And as the old joke goes, my arms are still tired.

The flight was delayed, so I was only able to dig a few hours, but it was nice.

IMG_0192.JPG First up is a side plate to an 18th century pistol or musket, a sea serpent. I did not dig this, I dug a 1711 1 reale cob and traded it on the spot (I have some other cobs, no serpents.) It was really cool seeing it come out of the ground. IMG_0191.JPG Did get a 2nd coin 1770 1 reale, IMG_0198.JPGIMG_0197.JPGIMG_0196.JPGIMG_0199.JPGIMG_0195.JPG

Flat button, tacks to chest or furniture, CW percussion cap, misc, CW .22 shell, something hard to get, metropolitan slipware, bellarmine pieces, nice stuff! All the pottery is 18th century or earlier.

The little cob was nice too, had a full date on it. But I liked the sea serpent better, and he wasn't impressed with the serpent and liked the coin.

Nice job Smokey! You probably met some of the local detectorists that I hang with in Savannah. I wasn't able to make the hunt this time. Would have love to have been there.

We broke the airplane! 3 hour delay. The black box broke and they had to replace it, and then get the paperwork to the FAA, airline did a great job though. Then they couldn't get one door to close right, but finally they did, then strike 3, someone got sick as we started descending to land and all the police and EMS folks and even a fire truck was there when we landed. The gentleman walked off the plane, so whew! Plus we got the funniest flight attendant ever. "and if you need to smoke the exits are two in the front, two in the back and two over the wings." Plus I got a voucher for $150 for having the delay when I woke up yesterday and checked my email. Now how to spend my $150! Oh the choices of where to detect next! There were 3 buckets, 5 gallon buckets, of shredded aluminum cans on the site we picked up, not including the ones I gave to the hotel! Somebody knows how to trash a property.

Nice finds and nice trade! Not bad at all for only a few hours work.

Did you ever bother to go up to see who was in the pilots seat? :icon_scratch: Sounds like a rough ordeal. Nice digs though, pretty fair trade considering you own every cob on the east coast!! :icon_thumleft:

Wow thats what I need to do travel to some cool places looks like it paid off Awesome post

Thank you all. It was a real pilot in the pilot's seat, not a blow up pilot doll like in the ancient "Airplane" movies. After the 2nd incident with the door, which turned out not to be a biggie, I figured we'd be ok as long as Samuel L. Jackson wasn't on the plane!

Now, sort relics, put stuff away and find somewhere else to go.

I thought my habit was expensive!

Excellent finds 'Cat! But I wonder how much finding them cost you? :tongue3:

Civilman1, I got to SHOP at the airport, no biggie, plane ride was smooth as glass. No real issues, just going way too fast from the airport to the dig site.

Whatdidifind? Costs less than therapy for staying inside in the winter.

Since I really can't walk really FAR without it getting to me, I just go slow and in circles. And dig it all but Saturday was insanely stupid as the aluminum read from 50 to 94 on the Deus, which means you can't discriminate anything. THREE five gallon buckets I saw of dug aluminum! Not including mine. Idiot farmers. Their animals can eat pieces of that and then die....

Well well, looks like we're in for a reale Spanish year! I am itching to get on that cob. I just follow Smokey and go around her circles in bigger circles lol.

Yes, Tommybuckets is truthful here! I make smaller circles! He makes BIG circles. We both find our way home however. The ground in my area is still frozen hard as a rock. I was out a little bit ago. The sun didn't fool the ground at all!
