Beanman I think you need to think outside the box and look at the numbers against you.....do you think maybe they are on to something?Chalk another one up.Hey if collecting cool shaped rocks thats great but dont try to make something out of nothing!I bet your collection is HUGE!!!!Give my ancestors a little credit they were true artisans and all were good at what they did, that is all they had to do,make implements, hunt, make babies!!!(good life)After a while you would get pretty good at what you did.The ANCIENT artifacts were crude but they are not very common.I ask you, would you rather have a collection of artifacts that some one had to wonder, or one that they knew right offAnd say hey that is a beutiful collection of doubtless artifacts!!!
Huge collection, hardly. Started a couple years ago. I'm not a collector. I do like to learn about Native Americans. I will be honest with you, if I ever find something worth a lot, I probably sell it. In my area, I might be waiting a long time. It's mostly my new excuse to get to the woods. I going to have to disagree with you a little bit. They had true artisans, but I don't think they all were. I think museum quality, are very rare and not crude. The crude ones are the vast majority, and a lot of times, not a lot of modification. You don't think anything in the top picture is anything?
No!
Hey Beano,I think everything in the first pic is just a bunch of flakes spauled off the bigger rocks.I have dug buckets of that stuff and placed it in my flowerbeds.I once thought these flakes were used for something but now I don't believe they were.I used to dig for artifacts and this stuff was everywhere.I believe you are onto a manufacturing site possibly, which would explain all the flakes. But hey , if they mean something to you then Rock on dude.Show us some knapped out pieces you have found in this same area please. We all want to see.
AMEN!!What ever rocks your boat!!I dont think anything in that top pic was anything, although I do have to admit I am not familiar with Eastern stuff at all,now you post some western stuff especially obsidian, and I can tell you a few things.Beano have you ever heard of Colombia River Gem points??Well out here the majority of the points found are museum quality,%99 of them were experts.Partner I have been at this old game for over 30 years and dont claim to be an expert but I didnt learn anything arguing with people that did know.
Hahahah Stoneseeker. You nailed it! That is funny, I just finished posting (probably to much) about Charlie.... my best hunting pal. He is never farther away from me than what you saw in the photo, if I am home. In fact, he is sitting here next to me as I write... with his head on my feet. In that photo, we (he and I ) had just come home from a hunt. he spends most of his time in the water swimming, while i hug the shore. he was very tired that day
