Fishing for Silver- Fish On!s CRH Log

I picked up 6 boxes of halves today. I didn't keep very good track of the per box breakdown. I did have one box that had two enders and produced 6 silvers (I was hoping for more).

Total for the day was 17 silvers(4x90%(kens) and 13x40%).

I think I actually have four more boxes to pick up tomorrow and then I am going on a hiatus for an undetermined amount of time because I am starting a new job in a new state.

That is a solid day my friend!
good luck if you get your 4 boxes today, and best of luck with your new job in a new state!

Thanks. I think I have 4 straggler boxes coming in next week and that is it. Oh well, maybe once I get settled in at the new place I can figure out a way to start doing volume again.

I picked up the last 4 boxes of the week today. Not great results, but I'm happy with it.

Box 1: skunk
Box 2: 1x90%(walker reverse ender) 1x40%
Box 3: 2x40%
Box 4: skunk

Well the 4 straggler boxes finally showed up today and I had to enlist a helper to pick them up for me since my new job is nowhere near any of my old order banks. The boxes were a great farewell present:

Box 1 (2 enders): 4x90% (1 walker, 3 kens) 13x40%
Box 2: 3x40%
Box 3 (1 ender): 1x90%(walker) 2x40%
Box 4: skunk

Until I figure out a future order plan, I am taking a break.

You have really done well the last several months. Good luck with your new situation and I imagine you will be back in the game soon. Keep on rolling!

I just signed up to this forum and came across your thread... your findings are just pure maddness! I wish I had your luck...

I started CRHing almost 6mo ago and I've cycled through about $14,000 in halves. I've only found 22-40% and 5-90%. No where close to your results... any tips?

what state are you in? that has a lot to do with your finds sometimes, different areas produce differently.

Yes, my tip is to do as much volume as you can. The first thing to figure out is which supplier produces the best in your area. Try ordering boxes of halves from a bunch of different suppliers. Most people suggest a lot of boxes, but I honestly determined which was my supplier of choice after going through 10-20 boxes from each available supplier. Keep in mind that your total hunted volume is equal to the volume that I have hunted in some of my higher volume weeks. If you scroll back to the beginning of my log, you will see that i went through quite a few complete skunk weeks on halves. Volume is the key. It will increase your finds in two ways:

1. the finds from the weak boxes will increase just by the shear number of them that you are going through
2. Halves seem to follow the pattern of a bunch of meager or skunk boxes coupled with one or two awesome boxes. If you are doing high volume you are increasing the chances that you will get one of the awesome boxes. Look at it this way: last night I hunted 4 boxes and had a good night. If I had just ordered two of those boxes my total take very well may have been 3x40% total.

Good luck and keep at it. You'll find plenty of silver.

Thanks. Good luck with your hunts. I think I've just gotten really lucky. It's really been awesome. I've completely blown away all of my goals. Now I just need to figure out how to keep hunting with a demanding job.

Thank you so much for the advice. I really appreciate it.
I guess I need to up my volume... I've been purchasing one to two boxes per week and allowed myself to get discouraged on non-comparable yields (especially after crossing your log too... lol)
Will definitely keep at it.

Thanks again and good luck with the new job! WIll be looking out for your updates.

what state are you in? that has a lot to do with your finds sometimes, different areas produce differently.

I live in California. I'm assuming that the supply here has been exhausted with the competition? I've been averaging 1 silver per box...

But lately I've been running into several boxes that have nothing but 2001 P Kennedys. I was shocked at first, but then it gets pretty annoying when you've opened your 5th box of 2001 P's... just bad luck i guess.

Southern California from my knowlege is full of volume hunters; however, if you read some previous posts from other co-cal hunters, some have gone through 20 boxes of solid 2001 coins in a single week with not a circulated box to show for their efforts... All I can suggest is trying to find a bank willing to order you from another currier like brinks or loomis or garda.

wow... I had no clue... thank you for that information. will need to carry on.

Old School MWR; Good news and bad news

Well, my life has been taken over by my new job, so hunting has taken a back seat. Today I actually had to go to a bank near my new job to deposit my paycheck. I asked if they had any halves and they said "yes". It turns out that they had $300 in MWR. I also inquired about ordering and explained my situation: that I used to order near home at one of their branches, but now this was the easiest one to get too. Long story short I have a, as in one, box of halves coming in next week at this bank. She said she couldn't do more than that, so I'll have to work on it. At least I finally have a box on order.

Now on to the good part. The MWR were 30 strings wrapped rolls. I am 100% positive that these are holdovers from when I hit that first great batch of boxes. The ratio of 90% to 40% and the condition of the '64's is strong evidence to suggest this. I wish I had the other 2/5's of the box, but I'm not complaining one bit:

$300 MWR: 11x90%(all kens) 6x40%

I feel like a junkie that just got a fix after a two week hiatus.
