Just got back from our annual flyfishing for trout trip in the Driftless area in Wisconsin. To say the least, the weather was interesting. We arrived on a Friday and watched it snow a few inches on Saturday, but that didn't stop our group of five from enjoying mother nature's trout streams there.

One of my goals was to use the bamboo flyrod that I refinished that belonged to my grandfather who passed in 1963. I took it to a section of a stream that had some nice long riffles that held lots of wild brown trout. I was using a fly that sinks and was simulating an insect that lives in that section of the river. I kept my video camera recording in the hope that I would capture the action of hooking and playing the first trout landed on the flyrod. Unfortunately, I lost quite a few nice trout but eventually I landed one.

Here's a short video showing the river and the refinished flyrod;

Here's a video of the first (small) trout I landed;

The next day, we fished a different river and I was using my favorite graphite flyrod and landed a nice brown trout;

Here's a picture of the brown. Luckily, one of my buddies was there to take the pic...

Thanks Blak bart, I wish I had landed the first trout that I hooked on the flyrod but that's fishing! Really enjoy this post and seeing what you and everyone else catch!

Well I took the family out for my wedding anniversary ( cinco de mayo so I cant forget). It was windy so we hit the back country. We caught some mangrove snapper for dinner, and I battled a stingray......it was a battle but I finally got him flipped over !IMG_7444.JPG

Sorry Bart, I wasn't thinking clearly yet. Happy belated anniversary to you and your wife!

Thought I'd wait till I went carping this AM to add MORE pics.

Go get 'em, Chris! I haven't been carp fishing in ages. Just a box of Wheaties was our bait. Great fighting fish!

Looks like corn beef hash ?? What kind of secret ingredients are in that slop bucket ??

Cream corn,Old fashion oats,Strawberry jello..takes a few times to get the consistency just right. Make a patty use a #1 Octopus with sweet corn kernels,make another patty placed on top and SQUEEZE the crap out of it.
