Went out to a new spot found a 1859 first year Indian and some buttons was way farther in the woods then I thought only had a couple hours to detect by the time I got there thanks for looking
Those look like old buttons, around 1800 i'd guess. Likely British. But there are people here who could probably be more specific. It's a detecting site worth further investigation I think.
that would be grate if some one could date them and tell me if they are British.I am trying to find a spot here were the first British settlers established in 1670.the historic society has been looking for it a long time.Ive been researching it for a year or so now and think i found it.I didnt get much time to detect there it took me an hour and 15min walk through the woods to get there.had a couple hours there and had to head back before dark.Im going to go back out there soon I would like to be able to date and have some evidence to show them before i tell them. thanks for all the help
Further to dating the buttons, I have found similar ones. They have no backmarks, just plain backs. My research suggested that the ones I found were popular from about 1790 to maybe 1820.
