First time CRHing

Congrats and welcome to the addiction my friend....there is no "AA" meeting for CRHers so be ready for a life long addiction to the hobby.

Oh I know. I already have a nice collection going just from coins I've found working at a gas station. I go through every coin I get and every roll I open for the register. I am definately hooked

Nice you're already addicted. I look forward to hearing about your finds! HH

I only have the money to do 2-4 rolls of halves a week. I'm only 22 lol. But my best finds are at the gas station I work at with all of the change that comes in. Everytime I find something even a pre 1960 nickel I get excited haha

finding something in 2 rolls is pretty lucky. keep on searching and eventually you can sell some finds to increase your bank roll a bit!

How does a 22 year old, with a job, only have $20-$40 dollars to CRH? I don't get it.

Because I make on average 220 a week. Have bills, gas, a girlfriend who has a four year old. Money doesn't go very far so I do what I can. I figured these forums had mature enough people to not hate. O well

There are some who have scored well at gas stations, people cash in their silver for smokes and the like. I always spend half dollars at this gas station where I know the cashier collects silver, I throw her proofs all the time.

Keep on pulling the silver, I wish I was smart enough to check rolls when I worked a register. The amount of filver that must have passed through my hands....Crazy

Ben button, work hard and it will pay off. It sounds like you're working incredibly hard, and I wish for many good finds in your future. The bankroll will grow over time, and you'll be able to search more. Good luck to you!

Thanks the kind and encouraging comments! I'm always excited when my change runs low and I get tko crack open a roll. I usually find at least one pre 1960 nickel in each roll. Havnt come across a wheat in a week or two though. But that makes it more exciting when I do find something. I'm having fun with it and that's all that matters for me

I had 3 of them from awhile ago and only found one found one recently at work. A lady just came in and I saw a 194? Nickel I almost asked her to see it but I missed my chance. I'll kick myself if it was a wartime I've been looking hard for one

I wasn't hating. $220 a week should be your coin roll hunting budget. On payday, go get some coin! The best part of this hobby is that when you're done, you have a big pile of cash leftover. You could easily turn over your weeks pay three times in coin in just a couple hours, then live off it another week.

Haha I could. I'm only gonna buy 2-4 rolls for now. Maybe sell off some of my coins to buy more. I'm starting small. I got too much other stuff to pay off that that's all I can afford as of now. My bank doesn't have a coin counter and coinstar is a waste lol. If I could afford it I'd be buying boxes weekly

Starting small just means you'll find small. (Remember, it's cash leftovers!) Could you roll and dump on your work? Some guy paid $100 gas with half dollars! ;-)

Well, at least you realize Coinstar is a waste.

Banking isn't marriage. Find a bank that has a coin counter, preferably self-serve. Then find another, and another, and then slut them until you think they'll almost kick you out. They'll never find out about each other, and if they do, they only want you more to themselves.

And did you say you have stuff to pay off? I got two phrases for you and your debtors "Legal tender", "Coinage Act of 1965"

Sadly, even though it is legal tender, they don't have to accept it how you could give it to them. For the same reason most gas stations won't accept anything more larger than a twenty dollar bill. It's worth a try to pay things off in coins though.

Yea I know ill find small, i still enjoy it either way. I know I couldn't pay my rent in halves or my cig habit but everything else I could. Even if I bought one roll i still have a great time doing it. I love coin hunting lol
