I got out Saturday and Sunday this weekend and made some nice recoveries. First a solo hunt on Saturday where I scored my first Spanish silver of the year thus keeping my nine year streak of finding at least one Spanish silver intact. This one a 1772 half real, Mexico City mint. I also got a 1902 IHP and a couple buttons.

Sunday a buddy and I made a short drive down to Maryland to follow up on some research we collaborated on. On the way down I told him this is either gonna be a payday or a bust. I ended up with 11 buttons, and pretty decent 1740s King George II copper, a 1955 Belgian 20 centimes, a knob to a cabinet or drawer, and a mystery heavy round brass piece with a threaded hole.

Here's the coins and buttons from the weekend

Nice to see these two guys again

Really nice finds. Very satisfying. After my years since returning to MDing in 2010, I STILL haven't found Spanish silver or anyone elses silver for that matter.
I know there are reales around here, because I've seen some finds, but not for me. So Congrats! They both look great. Personally, I always am glad to get the buttons too.
Good hunts. HH

Congrats on the first Spanish.

I'm sure you'll get more this year. That copper is nice looking as well. I love that period of finds.

nice site Steve!

Great saves and well done on the fine research!

Thanks for the comments, I love finding buttons too. I think the largest one is the biggest tombac I have ever dug. If you're on the eastern shore of Maryland, it's just a matter of time before you dig a Spanish silver.

Thanks Jeremy! I would rather dig one Spanish silver than 20 Mercs :laughing7:

nice site Steve!
Thanks Dave. Actually two sites.

Great finds Steve Congrats!
Thanks!

I got my hands on a great book and turned it over to my friend who did some map overlays and aerial research. It was a team effort.

Nice finds Steve! Its always nice to see a plan come together and give up an assortment of coins relics! WTG
