First silver coins of the year...Plus miner's scrip!
Hunting a few lawns in the neighborhood the last few days, these houses date back to the 20's and 30's so who knows what's down there.
Very difficult soil here in the city of Birmingham...mineralized soil for sure but more than that a crazy amount of iron.
For months I have been working on ways to crack this code and have done well.
I have gone deeper than most others and more importantly learned to ID the good targets deeper that throw off crazy signals that confused most other hunters because there is a layer of great targets in public areas I am finding only 5-7" deep all over the place that everyone missed including me...but now I don't.
In the last 2 days I figured out another little piece to the puzzle and started going after some of the more iffy, jumpy signals I passed by in the past but noticed some behavior that made them slightly different.
Turns out most if these were actually good targets but heavily masked.
Since I practiced on these targets I got better and now dig more good ones than bad.
In the last 2 days I have found over a dozen old wheats from the teens on up, the silver started popping up soon enough and I have a merc and a war nickel to start off my year and yesterday a very cool miner's scrip token.
Not even on the bucket list, I never thought I would have a shot to find one if these things unless I hunted around mines, mining towns or company stores.
That was incorrect and now I own a very cool piece of history.
Gonna be a great year.
