My name is Ed and I live in Appomattox Virginia. I hunt mainly in Appomattox plus a couple organized hunts a year.

The past few weeks have been good to me, as I have been hunting two Confederate camps and done well.

Last Monday I was off and decided to hunt with my partner DOC at a new location we both have had our eye on for some time. The finds were few and far between BUT I did manage to find an 1858 Remington 44 Caliber Pistol (Still has two bullets loaded but missing the barrel).

I was also able to find a couple firsts, an “A” button and a Batwing along with a “Bulls-Eye Saddle Rosette.

I have a lot of cleaning to do on the Pistol; Electrolysis is the next step as I have done all of the preliminary cleaning I can do,

Hope you enjoy the pictures.

SWEET FINDS!! Welcome to TNet and keep em coming.

Welcome to TNet, Ed!

Cool finds and a great post and pics.

The artillery shell is awesome.

Looking forward to seeing more cool finds.

Thanks for sharing.

I find the revolver intriging. Officers usually carried them as the rifles were too ungainly to carry while in the saddle. My imaginatiion is running wild with pictures of a Union officer being shot from the saddle and losing the gun. Or perhaps it was a Confederate officer who was using a cartured gun with the same fate. And maybe it was Private Smith who picked it up from the battle field and lost it along the way. I can even picture an officer standing by an artillery piece being overun and having the gun wrested from his grip and falling into a berm where it was lost. That's what I love about Civil War artifacts, so many vivid pictures are called to the minds eye and imagination or just sheer wonder about who had it last and how it got to where you found it. Excellent! Monty.

Outstanding find!! The fact that it even has two bulletts left would make such an interesting story. Who dropped it, wounded or killed?? Just a great piece of history!!

Hey Ed, I think I saw your post over on Treasure Spot and I posted there as well. As a resident Civil War buff of TNet, I say YOU ARE A LUCKY DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is a :o :o :o :o :oAWESOME find, there is nothing else to it. Unbelievable and soooo rare these days to find a Colt! I toldyou the same on Treasure Spot too. That blows the Eagle button I found today AWAY!!!! Nice going Ed, and I look forward BIG TIME, to seeing what else you pull out of the ground there!!! Welcome! ;) ;) ;) :o :o :o Nice shell too, looks like it may be some variant of a Parrot.

Folks let me tell that Ed and Doc are very good relic hunters, We all post finds on the Treasure Spot and on American Relic Hunters as well. I will look forward to seeing both of them at the upcoming mega event Diggin In Virginia in October. I hope to have a chance to do a little hunting with you guy's. Great finds and see you on the Treasure Spot!

Welcome aboard Ed. Nice finds. The artillery shell is in very good condition. ( kind of scarey). How do you neutralize something like that?

Nice gun too.

Lots of greats folks here on TN.

Welcome Ed....Fantastic Post.If you're gonna do it....THAT'S the way to do it.Again welcome and look forward to your post....Great Stuff, can't get enough.HH

Wow! What a fine gang of finds!

Is that a big Remington revolver?

Glad to hear you're handling live ordnance the way you are. I just dropped a dug-up 30-30 round off at the cop house last week. I have old ammo for my Winchester Self-Loader, but it's *good* old ammo.

An employee of an underwater sort-of-treasure-salvage co. I won't name was fooling with a WWII shell that was on the bottom near a Fla. Key. "Flirtin' with disaster".

I'll be looking forward to your future posts, thanks for this one.

Welcome to the T'net!!
Great finds!

Thanks for the kind words and we would love to hunt with you. Please come by our camp at DIV VIII, you can’t miss us as we will be the scruffy looking guys hanging around our camp.

Doc and I are planning on pulling out Saturday before the hunt to head to the east coast for a pre-hunt. Guess we will be at the DIV site around Wednesday or Thursday to help John and Rose with some chores.

I can only hope everyone has the opportunity to find a hunting partner and friend like I have. Doc and I are two Pease in a Pod and our wife’s think we are joined at the hip. Doc and I live “As the Crow flies” about five minutes from each other and share the same passion for Relic hunting.

We have a great time hunting together as well as look out for each other, I could not ask for a better friend.

See you soon.

Awesome digs there :)
Thanks for posting the great pictures and welcome to Tnet .

Keep swingin and keep us posted
