IMAG0428.jpgI saw the father standing outside the church sunday morning and took it upon myself to go ask the never ending question. "would it be ok if i did a little md'ing in the church yard?" He said yes and gave me a little history on the church itself. The church was built in 1908 but there was another church there that was disassembled and moved right next door to it. It is now the parrish hall and it was first built in the 1860's. So i went over there yesterday and got skunked save for a 44 wheat(not the silver one, sadly). This morning i went back and got shut out again. So i went back again later in the afternoon and almost gave up on the IH dig and the ring, i seriously thought.." i'm not digging that piece of foil or bottle cap" but i decided to dig anyway and came up with the ring. Long story but all true.:laughing7: I'll post some pics of this church, it's a beauty and i live right across the street.

Sweet ring! congrats on some nice finds!

Nice digs and thanks for those pics

Cool class ring! Itching to find my first one!!!

Thank you. That's a 1951 class ring from my town. I'm going to do everything i can to locate the person but 1951 was a long time ago and it was a good 6" deep so i think it's been there awhile. That is my first "s" mint, aswell. Living in NY there scarce to say the least.

Might still be kickin at 80 or so yrs old, congrats!

awesome ring and IH, gotta dig that trash to find the good stuff and you found it for sure!

Thanks guys. Forgot to mention that i believe that it says 18k on the inner ring.

Beautiful ring. And 18K...? I'm resisting the urge to calculate the scrap value... good on you for trying to hunt down the owner.

Congrats on your first of many to come !
Glen

Nice recoveries ....that class ring is very cool .... what school ? can't quite make out the name in the pic .....

That ring is BAD! I love IHCs... but the flying witch ring is just bad. Congrats on an awesome hunt.

I FOUND THE GUY!!! The school is Greenwich and they are the greenwich witches, hence the flying witch.:laughing7:

That is so awesome that you found the original owner! Let us know what happens, if he wants it back etc. I made up my mind when I first started detecting that if I find a class ring I will do whatever it takes to get it back to the original owner no matter how badly I want to keep it. I hope that someone would do the same for me years down the line. Well done indeed!
