Hit a field today that has produced Spanish reales and early US coppers, today I didn't find any coins but I did recover a early wax letter seal and a few buttons and lead. I'm pretty sure this site is probably my oldest .

Very cool find. I love that you made the impression...in hot pink no less. I wonder if its possible to look up the image of the stamp?

I had no other choice than hot pink, left over granddaughters birthday candle!! Lol

Interesting Sandog. You may have found the path that solves it. I thought I was looking at a pretzel. Just looking up the Bakers Guild Coat if Arms, you'll find many similar like this

Wow I never thought that someone would ever figure this out! Now I know what the crest may mean
I found the back story of how this Coat of Arms came to be rather interesting. I'd never heard it before.

About nine hundred years later, the pretzel emerged in the siege of Vienna. When the Turks tunneled under the city walls at night, it was the pretzel bakers (awake and busy at work) who heard the intruders and warned the city. After saving the city from the Turks, the bakers were awarded a coat of arms, depicting a pretzel and a lion on a shield. That coat of arms is still in use today; in fact, many bakeries in Europe can be identified by the sign of the pretzel above the door.

Hail to those all those bakers who work through the wee hours of the morning

Congrats on your BANNER seal. What in interesting story. Glad you were able to get an ID. 👍
I bet that seal is worth a lot of “dough”. 🤪 Sorry for the cheesy pun.
What a great find, and in Illinois to boot.
Sounds like a great spot.

Thanks to everyone who vote banner and thanks to Sanddog for the crest ID!

Congratulations on the banner

It would be interesting if you reached out to the company and said that you had found the original seal for the company. I wonder what type of reply they would send?

I wouldn't know where to start! I'm leaning towards this belonging to an individual though. But not sure , have not figured out the initials PHS
