First E V E R Morgan Dollar and "V" SUPER WEEKEND!

We left our house here in Kentucky Wednesday for a Thanksgiving weekend with loved ones in other states, I decided to take along my Tesoro and for good luck I left the Lesche at home and took the new digger that Mighty AP sent me from Idaho. It MUST be a lucky digger, because I found my VERY FIRST Morgan Dollar and "V" Nickel with it! If you read this.....thanks again AP!

Soon as my Thanksgiving meal setteled, I started out at an old homesite that belonged to my wife's father, his father built the cabin around the turn of the century.

Here's a few pics of our trip....hope you like them!

Finally made it.......it felt good to breath fresh air again!

Here's the old cabin built around the turn of the century, hand sawed logs. This is where I found the Morgan.

I found the "V" about three feet out from the stone chimney.

My First Morgan! A little worn and stratched, but still, it's a first for me!

Here's a shot of how I first saw it down in the hole, initially, I thought it was the bottom of a soda can!

Here's the "V" - It's seen better days of course, but another FIRST!

Yeah, that's a dish, it goes to a small 12x16 camper trailer which sits in the old driveway, and yes, that's a deer head, it sure did stink. I think they were letting all the flesh rot off or something? You must've smelled it two! :D :D

Tim,

Great pics and great finds. Glad to see you nail that super Morgan. Sounds and looks like you had a great Thanksgiving all the way around. SUPER!!

Man LOL sure hope to leave here soon. The grass might always seem greener on the other side, and perhaps it doesn't always turn out to be. But the dirt in the other states when I have went there and detected sure was a whole lot more silvery. :)

Great to see you have such a great weekend with a superb find.

You're right Post...everytime I leave KY for Virginia or Tennessee, I ALWAYS return with silver, CW relics or some other interesting objects. I've scoured the countryside here in around the Pikeville area and have found just 2-3 silver coins and one piece of jewelry worth talking about. PPL here were just so poor back in the days - they didn't have $$ to drop or jewelry to fall off their fingers. Like you, I hope to be leaving here soon - maybe Arizona.

Like you said, the grass may not be greener, but the DIRT always yields better finds than Kentucky dirt. I never would have found that Morgan here in KY, I'm sure of that.

Happy Hunting and Good Luck !!!!!!!!!!! WOOT ;D
