Welcome to Tnet. Great finds. I like to have a place like that to hunt around hear It is real hard to get permission in my area. Why I do'not know.
Well my dad says things sure not like they used to be. Farmer we know used to let just about anyone that asked on his land to hunt Wild Hogs and Deer but one hunter fell out of his stand and broke his leg and sued our friend. He posted his land after that . Can't say I blame him.
Congrats on your finds and welcome to the forum. Looks like a lot of potential for some great finds on your farm. Good luck

Keep in mind there are always 2 sides to the story. We're hearing only one. ...But still pisses ya' off, don't it!!??!!I know sad person & sad land we live in.
Me I would have laughed at being so dumb. Your (Dads) Farmer was not at fault.
Nice start with those finds ! By the way you talked about the creek, that's where I would be swinging the machine , if your machine isn't water prof try hitting the banks hard and the woods/ fields near the creek---good luck and welcome aboard
Ok, I'll clarify a bit - if a landowner has a junkyard or some other known hazard of their own doing, and someone gets hurt from that hazard, then I can understand suing. None of that sounds anywhere close to your story. ...Which is why it pisses me off.
Pardon my confusion.
Maybe I should go back to bed.
With "some" exceptions, that's what I'm saying. Notice my first post - how this law has been "abused". If you're trespassing, then you get what you deserve. If you have permission, then a lot depends on the condition of the site. A hazardous site isn't a good thing to have.
If someone comes in my yard in the middle of winter and slips on some ice, too bad! Live with it! If you happen to fall into an unknown cavern or sinkhole because the ground gave way, it's not the owner's fault, but the owner "would have" to be responsible, at least in part. If you're on land, WITH permission, and the land is full of downed trees that you're having to navigate through/over/under, and you get hurt, then you're on your own - providing it was your idea to go there in the first place.
It's one thing to have permission to be on a property. It's another thing altogether how you handle yourself while on that property. Too many times, landowners are penalized for the MIS-actions of stupid people.
As the guy from the Verizon commercials says, "Can you hear me now? Good!"
