Our family has owned a large farm for about 200 years and many things have washed up over the years. I decided to buy a machine and after playing around with it I hit a field. I know it's not close to great things I see here but I'm trying

Welcome to Tnet. Great finds. I like to have a place like that to hunt around hear It is real hard to get permission in my area. Why I do'not know.

Well my dad says things sure not like they used to be. Farmer we know used to let just about anyone that asked on his land to hunt Wild Hogs and Deer but one hunter fell out of his stand and broke his leg and sued our friend. He posted his land after that . Can't say I blame him.

Congrats!! You are at the threshold of a lifelong passion! Enjoy the ride and welcome to t-net [emoji482]

I know sad person & sad land we live in.

Me I would have laughed at being so dumb. Your (Dads) Farmer was not at fault.

Congrats on your finds and welcome to the forum. Looks like a lot of potential for some great finds on your farm. Good luck

Yes I hope I can find something really special to post. Thing is we know Everyone for miles around since we have been here a longtime and access to other properties wouldn't be a problem i don't think. But hunting our property will take a long while.
I hope to learn from tnet about my detector and how to search and ID items. Everyone seems helpful here.

Keep at it,, I resumed hunting 2 summers ago and now I have to keep an inventory lol. It's addicting, fun, peaceful and ya get great exercise. ... Gotta love it

Nice start with those finds ! By the way you talked about the creek, that's where I would be swinging the machine , if your machine isn't water prof try hitting the banks hard and the woods/ fields near the creek---good luck and welcome aboard :icon_thumleft:

There's a lot of good laws and a lot of bad ones. This law gets abused terribly much!

Keep in mind there are always 2 sides to the story. We're hearing only one. ...But still pisses ya' off, don't it!!??!!

Thanks for the advice. I'll take all I can get. Will detect it for sure. It runs for about 80 acres I would estimate.

Only facts I know 1- guy did a dive out of stand without a harness and broke a leg
2- No hunting No Trespassing on Dads friends farm.

Ok, I'll clarify a bit - if a landowner has a junkyard or some other known hazard of their own doing, and someone gets hurt from that hazard, then I can understand suing. None of that sounds anywhere close to your story. ...Which is why it pisses me off.

Pardon my confusion. :notworthy:

Stay with it, the silver & other goodies will show up! GL & HH to you...

Welcome! SC has plenty of relics thats for sure. Good luck!

Oh you Lucky girl. Field hunting is my very favorite. Hope you find some goodies, and I know you will. Us girls have to stick together. I see you have the AT Pro.. You can hunt the stream with that, no problem. B ut, you have only just started and have plenty of time. I would hunt those fields. Good Luck.

Pardon me, I just have to jump in here. This thinking is whats wrong with Americans today.
If the land owner was nice enough to let me hunt their property, and I get hurt. IT'S ON ME! I don't care if it's junk yard, barbed wire, quicksand, whatever. I'm responsible for my own actions.
Only way I could see it, Is if the landowner invited me to hunt then set up a booby trap for me.

Maybe I should go back to bed. :dontknow:

With "some" exceptions, that's what I'm saying. Notice my first post - how this law has been "abused". If you're trespassing, then you get what you deserve. If you have permission, then a lot depends on the condition of the site. A hazardous site isn't a good thing to have.

If someone comes in my yard in the middle of winter and slips on some ice, too bad! Live with it! If you happen to fall into an unknown cavern or sinkhole because the ground gave way, it's not the owner's fault, but the owner "would have" to be responsible, at least in part. If you're on land, WITH permission, and the land is full of downed trees that you're having to navigate through/over/under, and you get hurt, then you're on your own - providing it was your idea to go there in the first place.

It's one thing to have permission to be on a property. It's another thing altogether how you handle yourself while on that property. Too many times, landowners are penalized for the MIS-actions of stupid people.

As the guy from the Verizon commercials says, "Can you hear me now? Good!"

Great is in the eyes of the beholder, You are digging old items and are being very successful, don't sell yourself short. Sooner or later an old coin or two will be in the plug.

I do hear you now. And agree completely . However that's not what you said in your previous post. You said "if he had a junkyard".
You can see how I read this to mean that If I fall down because I climbed on the guys junk pile, I should sue him!

Anyway Dirtyscgirl, I would be a very happy guy if I found the relics you did on my property! Congratulations! I'm sure you will find much more there.
