Well I finally got out for about 45 minutes the other day...then yesterday for another 1 1/2 hours. I was stuck at work for the 3 days of 60 degree temps we had >:(...but at least I got a couple of hours in. 08 started out just where 07 left off.....diggin' goodies. Nothin spectacular...but at least I dug some deepies. I found my first cache and just about filled my britches when I saw it in the ground ;D. It was the last dig of the day and it was a solid quarter hit at 4". I figured what the heck...I'll bend over for a clad quarter. When I got the hole dug I saw this coin purse...fully intact...and still zipped shut...and FULL of coins!! I did not open it..and decided to dream of silver all the way home. When I got home I placed a towel on the desk and carefully opened it hoping for silver to come rolling out. WRONG...ALL CLAD :'(...but still a nice and thrilling find and the latest coin was from the early 70's. Maybe next time.
Ended the day with a few wheaties..2 silver Roosey's...the 1901 injun...the clad cache... a tiny sterling silver heart charm from 7" down...a very heavy solid sterling silver ring..and the Roman coin charm which nearly made me fill my britches again...cause it L@@KED real in the ground.

Hey Bryce....didn't see your post until now.

I'm not sure I would have been able to wait til I got home to see what was inside that little purse. It looks like you had a good short hunt. Silver and coppers...business as usual, buddy. That heart looks pretty small. Amazing how the Explorer can find the smallest pieces of silver at extreme depths.

Hope you can get out again soon!

It was rough Dan...but I really wanted to do it. All the way home I was thinking silver...and to be honest...I thought it would be. I had a good feeling about it...but that's okay. Yeah I would have a few silvers to put in holders...but just the thrill of finding a purse chocked full was pretty cool. Many of the coins were still in the purse when I took the pick. There were 7 quarters in there....DANG IT ;D

wow bryce,

that would have got me going too - not sure how you made it all the way home without opening it though ? no way i would have been able to wait that long

great find though even though it was all clad - pretty exciting anyway

take care

Thanks Kevin...and trust me...it wasn't easy. I really wanted to wait though and wanted to be sitting when I popped it open :D. I even felt around it and could feel what felt like a ring...which made me want to open it more. I guess I was just trying to hold on to the "thrill" as long as I could...so I waited. Oh by the way...what felt like a ring...was the stinkin' round loop attached to the purse (which for some reason was on the inside) that connected the purse to a keyring at one time ??? :'( DOUBLE letdown...but still a thrill I won't forget.

I agree with Dan and Vpone there's no way I could wait to see whats inside the purse ;D its a real thrill to hear and dig deepies, great finds.
Thanks buddy. I don't think in the 30 years I've been hunting...that I've ever found a full purse...and brother it was FULL...half the coins were still in the purse when I took the pic. I really wanted to pop it open...but I wanted even more to be sitting down at home when I did :D
It was a thrill to find even though it was all clad. I believe the latest of the 7 quarters inside was a 1972. Man o man..just 8 years earlier and I would have hit the jackpot. The memory of seeing it in the ground though is priceless...and I won't forget it :)

What a find. Im proud of you for waiting till you got home. Not many could have done that. Sometimes the wondering, the exptations, the unknown of it is a thrill in it's own.

Hey..thanks Nutts. I saw the response buddy and wasn't ignoring it...I was just trying to find a pic of someone handing over some loot ;D. I was then going to respond to your post and add the pic. However..I can't seem to find a pic. Anyway...I did see the humor and thought it was great.
