Well I finally got out for about 45 minutes the other day...then yesterday for another 1 1/2 hours. I was stuck at work for the 3 days of 60 degree temps we had >:(...but at least I got a couple of hours in. 08 started out just where 07 left off.....diggin' goodies. Nothin spectacular...but at least I dug some deepies. I found my first cache and just about filled my britches when I saw it in the ground ;D. It was the last dig of the day and it was a solid quarter hit at 4". I figured what the heck...I'll bend over for a clad quarter. When I got the hole dug I saw this coin purse...fully intact...and still zipped shut...and FULL of coins!! I did not open it..and decided to dream of silver all the way home. When I got home I placed a towel on the desk and carefully opened it hoping for silver to come rolling out. WRONG...ALL CLAD :'(...but still a nice and thrilling find and the latest coin was from the early 70's. Maybe next time.
Ended the day with a few wheaties..2 silver Roosey's...the 1901 injun...the clad cache... a tiny sterling silver heart charm from 7" down...a very heavy solid sterling silver ring..and the Roman coin charm which nearly made me fill my britches again...cause it L@@KED real in the ground.

Nice hunting and great finds ... silver and Injuns are always good ... too bad about the coin purse ... it would have been cool if it were full of old silver ... congratz and continued good hunting ... Jimmy!

Good finds! The coin pouch is cool even if it wasn't full of gold or silver. There is always next time! :)

Finding that coin purse was very cool!! I would love to find one of those, silver or not. Glad you didn't poop your shorts!

Hey Silver, glad you got out, even if only for a few short hunts. Don't you wonder how a purse sinks into the ground? Sometimes I think there are little gremlins under there that drag the stuff down. I would have been thinking silver too. Darn it! Good hunting.

You would have really craped your shorts if you had opened that purse up and a couple of gold coins come rolling out!!!
Keep Diggin!!

Thanks JBH. I wish it would have been full of silver...but it was still cool. First cache I've found in years.

Thanks Moon. It was my first cache in years.

Nice hunt. Sounds exciting to find that purse. ;D

Good deal on the silver and IH. Great way to start the year.

Thanks Bob. I don't think I've ever found a full zipped purse before. Half the coins were still in the purse when I took the pic...so it doesn't show them all. I put all the coins back in the purse and am keeping it just as I found it.

Hey Bryce....didn't see your post until now.

I'm not sure I would have been able to wait til I got home to see what was inside that little purse. It looks like you had a good short hunt. Silver and coppers...business as usual, buddy. That heart looks pretty small. Amazing how the Explorer can find the smallest pieces of silver at extreme depths.

Hope you can get out again soon!

wow bryce,

that would have got me going too - not sure how you made it all the way home without opening it though ? no way i would have been able to wait that long

great find though even though it was all clad - pretty exciting anyway

take care

I definately wonder...but in this case I figured since it was a bigger mass...that it didn't sink too deep...hence a better chance for silver ;D ;D...oh well.
