It certainly isn't much, but I'll take them any day. I thoroughly enjoy just getting out in the woods, just getting outside. Although I didn't find much to support my hunch that Colonial home sites once may have stood, I'm very certain they are there, its just finding them that can be very difficult sometimes. Friday I set off in the thick forest, along a large North Carolina river known to be followed by the Native Americans. The Ancient trail, so it's called, was paved long before the White settlers even thought of using them. I spent a good part of the day walking up and down steep hills along the river heading towards my favorite sites, just from a different direction. I arrived at the location about 10 am and just before dark I started to hit some tell tale Iron targets and signs of an old homestead. Unfortunately, I will have to wait until my next adventure to thoroughly detect the site. :)

Interesting bunch of finds. Good luck on the return

Great story & finds Mike!
Is the bracelet silver, (i'm assuming it is the piece with rolled ends)
Snow in NC?
We got to 52 degrees in NH yesterday after 2 days of rain.
hope to get some Prime hunting today in the mud at 21 degrees

good luck on the return trip, I see some old stuff in that pile :headbang: weird looking bracelet thing ???

When I look at your finds I think of the history of where you walked.

That decorative piece on the right looks to be made of brass and reminds me of gun hardware and the lead circle with the line through it reminds me of a fixed lead or pewter brooch, because of its size I would think it is too small to be a curtain weight or dress weight, but could be.
Maybe if you could post some better pics of it? I don't think too many people have seen fixed brooches, but they were actually quite common with the natives.

I think this web site has some pics and info on them......somewhere.

I looked through the website and found pictures of "fixed brooches" in Chapter 5, on pages 65, 73, 88, 89, 98, and 99. Tried to get a picture on here, but can't seem to do it.

Sound's like a fun hunt Mike, threw me off with the "Woodland's" part  The find's you got so far would lead me to believe you are definetly on to something.Best of Luck!!Coming back from Antietam last week I got held up for about an hour with about 1/2" of snow that immediately turned into a sheet of ice.....Not good,an ambulance going to the hospital was the victim, accident's evrywhere.Come on Spring :icon_sunny: Talk to you soon bud, take care !!
