I feel I should apologize for posting too much on Tnet lately but today was very unusual given I'm not a coin hunter. It was a very nice and somewhat warm Tennessee morning. With Tenn. Josh working and Dman out of town, I decided to try again to locate the pickets for the CSA Cav. camp where I dug the acorn bullet. What a nice surprise for Dman if I could locate the pickets and drive him up to the site to hunt when he returns-Not to be YET.
There's a high ridge about a quarter mile from the main camp and I drove to that point and began my search. I dug the spoon end first and thought "Where's Herbie (Steelheadwill) when I need him?"-LOL. I can't read all the hallmark but I see "T U E" on the end of the word. I walked down the hill toward the main camp and dug the fired pistol ball. Next, the F75 had a "71" on the display with a strong signal at 7 inches. I'm thinking "Plate" but out popped a 1943 Merc. dime. Moving farther down the hill, I dug a fired .58 3 ringer-not unusual as the soldiers often fired their rifles to unload them. About 100 yards from where I dug the Merc., I get another "71" on the F75 display. Again, at 7 inches I get another silver dime. This one is a 1962 Rosey.
I dug 5 full horseshoes on this end of the cavalry camp today but no pieces indicating they could have picketed horses on that site too.
No sign of an old home anywhere close there. This is very unusual to dig 2 silver dimes in a very large area in only a random search 3 hour hunt. Guess I should have bought a lottery ticket on the way home. I do very much appreciate you reading our posts. HH, Quindy.

Here we go:
Thanks Rob. Good luck in VA this fall and call me when you get close on I-40 on your way to your Texas ranch. Quindy.

Randy, you guys dig more shotgun brass than anyone I know. Must have been a lot of rabbits in East Tennessee. If you don't dig them, you'll miss a button. Guy has some info. for you that I gave him. HH, Quindy.

Thanks again Cody. I appreciate your comments. You and Creskol are my "go to" guys on i.d.ing cav. equipment.

Glad you are back on line Guy. I've been lucky lately and am glad the hot summer is gone. HH, Q.

Thanks Rob. I fully expect you and Floyd to find the holy grail any day now and I'm looking forward to seeing your AD magazine article coming up soon. HH, Quindy.

Thanks O.P. Permission gets harder to get here too if they don't know you or your family. Poachers without permission has hurt our hobby here and people walking through muddy ground and crops looking for Indian relics without permission haven't helped things. HH, Quindy.

MR, thanks and I hope you dig more great relics and coins before the snow gets there. Keep it up there-LOL. Q.

Thanks Roger. You have already had a great fall if you don't find another relic this year. HH, Q.

Arg., I agree the Merc. design is one of the best. I am also partial to the St. Gaudens on the $20 gold double eagle-LOL. Thanks for looking from NM. Quindy.

Joe, I'll trade the 2 dimes for a CS Artillery button-LOL. You are right about coins in CW sites. I got a good signal a few years ago about 20 yards from where I dug a rectangular CS militia plate. I saw a large silver coin in the bottom of the hole and my knees got to knocking. It was a Shell Oil aluminum president's token-LOL. Quindy.

MM, I'll let you and Joe negotiate over the Hookers camp-LOL. I believe the Chattanooga camp was where the hooker connotation was given. And no, I was not there and wouldn't have been caught dead in a Yankee camp anyway. Hurry up and post your BIG find. Q.

Thanks Bill. I learn a lot on Tnet. Looking forward to seeing you, your Dad, and Greg this fall or winter. HH, Quindy.

Don, period silver is pretty scarce in CS camps here as you know well. HH, Quindy.

Thanks Herbie, good to know it's likely period as it was on the highest part of the ridge where you get a good view of the surrounding countryside. I thought if anyone could age a spoon, it's you. HH, Quindy.

MK, nobody has ever found that picket that I know of. I may need to check one hill farther as this was a cavalry camp and they used "vedettes" or outriders. The vedettes could range out to half a mile or more since they could alert the camp quickly on horseback as opposed to an infantry soldier on foot. HH, Quindy.

I would take those finds any day Quindy no matter where they were found. I want to thank you for making me part of your new article in north south magazine. I think people will like it and you did a good job with the whole thing.

Thanks Floyd and you are welcome. I hoped they would also include the close up of the bullet you dug with the faint stars carved into it. That's a cool find but they didn't have room for all the pics. It is included in your group shot RTDE 3 (Rob) made of your finds though. I'm attaching the pic of that bullet for Tnet members to see. The article goes to the printers Friday and should be mailed out in less than 3 weeks. If you don't subscribe, you can order a single copy from their website after it's published. HH, Quindy.

I know what you mean on those buttons. Mike and I was in a field Sunday and there were no trees anywhere close and my MXT PRO was screaming button on one of the targets. Turned out to be another shotgun hull. I was so excited at first because it was very close to where I dug that eagle coat button just a few hours before. But you just can not pass those signals up.

Same thing for those WW2 maneuver blanks Randy. They sound good and read 57-58 on the display. They have a longer tone that a CW bullet but you have GOT to dig them. HH my friend, Quindy.

Thanks Mike, I'm verifying something with 2 local relic dealers now that I dug this am and if they authenticate, I may post tonight. UPS delivered the T2 LTD I bought from you today. Looking forward to putting it to the test. If it's as good as the F75, I'll be thrilled. HH Bud, Quindy.

I can't believe you found two dimes. What did you do. Slip up here to my house and borrow my Minelab.
Dman
