Banner for me too. Heck it's better than a gorget, the size and work on it is awesome. Now, about the maker's mark, so cool to see one. Mister, I wished I was a good relic hunter as you are, I'm so lame that I switched to clad hunt this summer. I bet that research last winter finally pays now. Thanks for sharing, it makes my day.

11.5 centimètres ou 4.5 pouces

Guy,

Thanks for the dimensions.....4.5 inches is a honker of a size.

Regards + HH

Thanks to all who recognized this piece and who's nominations helped it make banner.
A special thanks to Guy for sharing it.
The fur trade, involving a mix of races, competition for fur, and the politics that followed shaped North American relationships of land title, wars, and entire races of peoples fates on this continent..
A glimpse of a rare specially crafted item representing more than a basic need, also represents a temporary success in the trade of an era that is a window to our past.
Hand crafted art on a precious metal met a type of wealth that ended up where it is today.
Still beautiful, intact, and still valuable; so many generations later.

Could Guys piece speak we'd be intrigued for sure.

Beautiful piece of history right there…congrats on a well deserved banner!

Amazing piece Guy congrats on the find and making the banner, it's worthy of being front and centre of any display case.

Banner is an understatement. This should be T-Nets background wallpaper! What an amazing find!

Wow! Was just reading about the history behind this thing! What an amazing find!
This is the kind of thing a museum would build a very big display case for! :notworthy:

It really is a stunning find. The "Fur Trade " section often shows some amazing things. No it does not get the traffic like "Todays Finds' but the finds are as spectacular and the hunters are hunting a nitch area with a thin window in time.

Congratulations on it making 'Banner'. It was voted up by members just as any other item is and I think it looks great!
Also appreciate your English as I would never understand your French!

There were also bracelets, hatbands and other large trade silver apparel. Heres a pic with a bracelet.....makes me rethink the large can signals I skipped in the woods.
