I don't post that much anymore but I figured I had to post this one. Met up with a couple hunting buddies and forum members, Park pirate and Ed upstate at a local pounded park. Very tough to get anything out of there anymore. I guess the treasure gods were smiling down on me today cause I found a good one. After 20+ years and hundreds of Indian heads today was the day....

Banner!! No question!! Unbelievable shape. Definitely north of the $1000 mark! So jealous.

Great find most people never find a coin worth $250 +

Sorry I'm so stupid but what does "key date " mean ? I've gotten several I-heads in change at the Turkey Hill over the years.

Sorry I missed this when you first posted!! Congrats of course!!

A Super Find.
WOW!

I guess the Key words in this post are " Hundreds of Indian Heads".
Congratz on the Banner.

VF-ish when dropped! Don't sell!! LOL The coin is not worth 4 figures as some have previously indicated, and I don't mean to rain on the parade. In 'the book'? Yeah. Real market value has that coin at about $250-$400 in dug condition.

Congratulations on the well-deserved banner. That coin is beautiful.

Very nice. I watch the hooverboys on YT and their all the time finding Indians and saying ''please be a '77.'' So I looked it up to see what the hoopla was about a '77. Good find and I'll vote banner too.

Haha you got that right.

Congrats on your first banner.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the kind comments and banner votes. It certainly was a thrill to find. I decided to send the coin to get graded and slabbed, can't wait to get it back.

Keep us posted when you get it back. I hope it turns out really well for you after 20 years of hunting .

Awesome save!! Even with no "liberty" visible on the headdress it would be worth $900 according to Whitman red book! Is there some "liberty" there? If there is some, but not complete then we're talking about $1500. Any pitting would drag it down, but the best thing is that IT IS REAL. I know this because on the reverse the letter "N" in the word "ONE" is a weak strike. All the real ones have that. The other key next great key date IH is the 1909 S. That one is almost as expensive as the 1877. One again, awesome save!

Holy Cow!! What a find. Congrats!! Just proves, there is never a sight that has been totally hunted out! Keep your coils to the soil...

Congratulations on making your first BANNER, amazing IH! :occasion14:
