I don't post that much anymore but I figured I had to post this one. Met up with a couple hunting buddies and forum members, Park pirate and Ed upstate at a local pounded park. Very tough to get anything out of there anymore. I guess the treasure gods were smiling down on me today cause I found a good one. After 20+ years and hundreds of Indian heads today was the day....

Very nice key date Indian, & in great shape. Congrats.

Jackpot coin! I'm not sure what I would do if I ever found a coin of value. Congrats on whatever you decide. She's a beauty.

Congrats Butch. Was glad I was there to witness your great find. Good thing I didn't have my relic shovel yesterday or else I might have been tempted to accidentally hit you upside the head and steal that coin !

Sweet ! $$$$$$:occasion14:

I always gently clean the dirt and hope. You did it !

Very nice. I watch the hooverboys on YT and their all the time finding Indians and saying ''please be a '77.'' So I looked it up to see what the hoopla was about a '77. Good find and I'll vote banner too.

awesome. congrats!

Congratulations! I haven't seen many banner nominations for this very banner-worthy find. I suspect that it would be pointless, as you need to be a active forum member to make banner. But you can be content with that coin. Indian Head pennies are a staple of detectorists all over the country, and you have the rarest coin of the series. Many detectorists are still looking for the big 1877 key date after years of searching and a whole lot of digging.

I've been a member for quite awhile but more of a lurker lately, I used to post years ago but doesn't show anymore. Not sure why maybe they purge after a certain amount of time or maybe when they changed the forum format they were lost, who knows. Doesn't matter not looking to be on the banner, much happier with the coin.

Congratulations on making the banner, that's a beauty IH...I found an 1879 a few years ago at an old ferry stop on Seneca Lake...I guess you could say I missed the boat by a couple of years, lol.

Great Find!
Excellent condition, too!
I see you haven't cleaned it yet - good!
Have it cleaned by a coin shop, graded and slabbed...!
You have some VALUE there....!
KEY DATE!

Heck yeah cowboy!

SWEET! I've been hunting for 40 years now, and still no 1877! Glad you got it, and hope you appreciate it.
