Hi all,
I have been enjoying this hobby for 5 years but I have been waiting patiently for a large silver. Well today it finally showed up and I couldn't be more excited. An 1859O half dollar! Ironically I skipped all of the newer big silver, including a Washington Quarter. It is odd I didn't find a Barber dime until I had found a bust half dime and seated half and full dimes. I also found this interesting button. I would appreciate any help identifying it. So far I can read Waterbury on the back. Thanks for looking and any help.
Charlie

Great find.

Thanks guys. Any idea how to safely remove the iron oxidation? Obviously it was right next to a piece of iron in the hole.

Cool find I will be looking for one of them too, They are a great looking coin!

Great finds!!!

Hang in there Wayne. It will come. I have started talking to people about my town history and detecting where they recommend. A local judge told my wife about a place where the confederates stored material in caverns. He played in them during his childhood. They are next on my "to find" list.

Congrats !!!

Awesome finds.yeah that Georgia clay is brutal on coins.that button is a sweet find,I like that a lot.way to go.

chasu,
You found a beauty in that 'O' half dollar, not only is it a good looking coin its an 'O'! That is an interesting button, I've never seen one with that type of design on it. Be interesting to see it identified. The Judge has passed along some information that is both awesome and way cool, good luck with finding the caverns. A suggestion, when you find the caverns do not go too deep into them before backing out and showing/telling your wife where you are at. Being lost in something like that is not fun especially if nobody knows where you are at.

You've some terrific searching to do along with some possibly great finds, the best of luck to you.........63bkpkr

That is O-mazing! Congrats!

Looks like you did your home work
and it payed off

Sweeeeet!!!!

Congratulations on a really nice find!

I wish I had your problem on finding old before new! I seem to find Walkers (2 so far this year), but can't get Barber or Seated halves.

CONGRATZ I love to see those Georgia relics ..
