Finally got a Shield Nickel...

Went back to the 1818 cabin site with restored confidence after digging the '06 IH penny on Friday. Dug a couple of wheats to boot and aboue a half bucks worth of clad.

Look closely at the date. They made an 1882 over 1883. From the pic. it doesn't look like the overdate though.

Actually, the overdate mentioned is an 1883/2. The 3 is prominent, with slight evidence of the 2 underneath. Your sheild nickel is in great condition! Nice Find HH SmokeEater

I wasn't looking at the redbook when I made mention of the overdate.
It's still a nice looking coin.
