This coin has eluded me for years, until yesterday. But then I only know of two others that have been found in SW PA. It's a 1785 Nova Constellatio. These coins were minted in Birmingham, England and shipped to the US right after the Revolutionary War. I included a picture from the coin book. Mine is the one in the lower left.
I also found a 1794 Liberty Cap US large cent. Unfortunately, it's a little beat up.

Congrats on a pair of great finds and making the first banner of 2023. I agree with you about the quality over quantity at that site.

I'd love to come across a 1794 cent as that was the date our old family homestead was built in Maine. Love to get one eventually to go with some of the stuff Mom passed along.

I just did when he posted the results today. I'm sure he is aware that I found it, so it is probably in the survey.

Nice dig Steverino did you report it to Don's survey:icon_thumright:
Well apparently, Don's survey was just a one and done quickie from over a year ago and he's not accepting any new input.

Congrats on the incredible old coppers! And finally digging your Nova. That site had some really old activity.

Steve. Great find. Am trying to learn as much as possible as to what constitutes a potential older coin site. Without divulging the location of your site could you share with me the characteristics of the site itself, where you found this coin, and what research you did to pick out this site. Thanks. Gary
