"FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

Left work today and went out to search an old homesite next to a friends house. Only had about two hours to work the site. In twenty years of detecting, that SLQ has always evaded me. Today my friends, that madness stopped. I finally dug my first SLQ with a 1918 date. I also dug a few other silvers and some indians. Here is what I pulled today. ;D

1918 Standing Quarter
1918 Merc Dime
1908 Barber Dime
1896 IH
1903 IH
1910 V-Nickel

Re: "FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

I would give that one a grade of EF 40 ! on this side.
what does the reverse look like?
Is there a MM?

Very nice, One of the nicest I have seen on T-Net in a very long time.

If I could say Congratulations in more than one Langauge I would ! All of those coins are on my list to find. HHHH

Re: "FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

Lost my first post on this so may repeat myself. Very nice SLQ. MM is mint mark but in picture it doesn't appear to have one . Its location would be to the left of the date. May have to glass is to verify. Again very nice find. D.D.

Re: "FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

Congrats on all the silver especially the SLQ. This is my third year of detecting and I placed the SLQ on my goals list for this year but after reading 20 years, 17 years, etc of detecting without one maybe I'm being too wishful.

The Mint Mark should be on the back (reverse) of the coin.
It will be a P, a D or an S

This tells where the coin was minted
Philadelphia
Denver
San Fransisco

DirtDobber,

I am not absolutely sure where my head is on that last post.
Thinking one thing and typing another...(slaps forhead)

the MM is located between the date on the left and next to the star. (to the right of the star)
Sorry about that guys.
Head in the wrong place today.

Re: "FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

Thanks everyone for the nice remarks. I double checked it out with magnification and saw no MM and no 8 over 7. Thanks Again

Re: "FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

Way to go on your first SLQ!!! Looks like a beauty too.
Congrats on all of those great coins.
-MM-

Re: "FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

I would still like to see the back,
Not to be a pest but that side is my favorite part on this coin.
The only other coin with an eagle this good is the Flying Eagle Cent.

If the back is as nice as the front It is a sight to see.

Re: "FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

Nice Shape..I only have found 4 SLQ in the last six years of detecting..Its nice that one has a date,They are real hard to find in decent shape..Two I found had dates and the other two were blank..The mint started recessing the date from 1925 on because so many dates wore away after a short time in circulation..The Gooch
