It has been a long cold winter here in Maine. Brrrrrrrrrrr ! I have been getting out and hunting the beaches some when the weather allowed it . I have not found anything interesting enough to post on here until yesterday afternoon. Most of the Beaches in my area have been sanded in and finds have been slow for me and fellow hunters this winter. We have been impatiently waiting for a big storm to move some of the sand. So Yesterday I went to an old beach that you have to hike quite a ways into during the winter months. The effort paid off yesterday with my first Cob . It's tiny, it's worn , it's from the salt , but it is a first for me and is a proud addition to my collection now ! My best guess on Identifying the coin after using the loupe and I do mean guess. is Bolivia Potosi cob 1/2 real 1680 to 1750 . Reign of Charles the II or III. I am definetly open to other more expert opinions on the coin though ! Thanks for looking and Happy Hunting MaineRelic

Looks like you killed it! Congrats!

No doubt your hike was worth the effort! I can't believe what the salt water does to your coins and relics.... Our silvers here come out looking great and the nickels are toast.... it looks like you encountered the opposite at your site.

Very nice finds!

Yeah Bedford , Theres not a lot of salt water in Pa. LOL The nickel copper seems to react less with the salt than the silver ! But I have no other options right now
