Few early coppers and silver from under the ice and snow.

Despite the crazy cold weather we had in the last six weeks weeks I still managed to get out a few times for a couple of hours. Some days the conditions were absolutely unbearable with frozen ground and the strong arctic wind mixed with snow. The few rare times we had the rain which allowed the ground to thaw a bit it would turn the sites into mud pools making the detecting extremely hard. Being as crazy as I am it didn't stop me from taking the few little opportunities I had and tempt my luck in the fields. The conditions being so unfavorable had a major impact on the my Deus as the machine was covered in mud or snow most of the time. I still managed to find a few decent coins and relics and have no reason to complain as, with the crazy weather we're having, I never expected to get out so late into the season.

Got a nice silver surprise, not as early as I was hoping for but still good.
Victoria Dime 1871 with a double die break on the reverse.

Very nice finds!!! You have some productive spots! Although very worn, that Hibernia counterfeit is a nice looking coin in my book!

Great finds and cool to see you braved the wind, cold and frozen ground. I agree on the Wellington half penny - in stellar condition. The two I've found are both nearly toasted. The two military buttons are perhaps your best finds though. I've been itching to get out on some new permission fields up here in northern VT. The cold doesn't bother me too much, but that frozen ground - man - takes a lot of work to get just one relic!

Thanks BTV Digger. I agree with you, the cold isn't really the issue. What bugs me the most is getting the finds out of the ground as the chances of breaking them while chopping the frozen soil go trough the roof. There's nothing worst in my books than damaging the relics.
