Favorite songs I was raised on

Peter Rabbit

Dee Jay wasn't just one guy. The group's drummer, Denny Storey, was "Dee" and bass player John Senn was "Jay." Gary Lind served as lead singer. The trio leaned in a '50s rock direction and later added Bob Godfredsen. Several others came and went during the band's heyday (which lasted anywhere from three months to three years, depending on how you look at it). There were so many rock, teen and even surf bands in Iowa during the mid-'60s that Senn got together with a couple of local investors and opened IGL Studios (the acronym standing for Iowa Great Lakes) in nearby Milford, giving their group and others a chance to make state-of-the-art recordings without having to leave the state.

Well, what else was there to get into in Iowa? Just kidding. I have heard this song.

1950's to 60s beer drinking music from the jukebox in the tavern "family room".

Welcome danloop. Please post 'em. I, uh, wasn't hanging out in the tavern "family room" until the early 80's. Even then, it was very rare stop for me.

Simon, great run on the Iowa bands! Lots of new music for me.

I got my memory jogged the other day. I don't think I have played many of these guys' songs.

Here's another good one and the video just may take you back in time.

Quicksilver Messenger Service- "PRIDE OF MAN"
Another great '60's San Francisco band that frequented the Fillmore and Avalon, along with the Grateful Dead, Moby Grape, Big Brother& the Holding Co, Jefferson Airplane, and Country Joe& the Fish.

This is one Mich Shields and I produced on my Indie label, ORANGE RECORDS.

Received charted airplay on college radio.
The Comets were booked to open for BOW WOW WOW at Eckerd College in St Petersburg, but BOW WOW WOW did not want to be upstaged, and a regular donnybrook broke out that was well recorded in the schools newspaper.
Yes, those were the good all days.

Rest In Peace, Kenny Rogers. It's very hard to pick a favorite for me, so I played his greatest hits.

Good songs Sis.
I had a friend that looked like an identical twin to him. Everywhere we went girls would come out of the wood work and doors would open. He died years ago from a heart attack :icon_scratch:

Growing up in Minnesota, I got to see Kenny and the First Edition band in the teen center at the Minnesota State Fair in the mid 60's. Always enjoyed every song he performed.

Now that we are in lockdown in Michigan, I put on some music and heard one of my all-time favorite bands, "The Four Seasons" sing "Working My Way Back To You"...

I remembered too that "The Spinners" (an incredible group from Michigan) put their "spin" on this song and nailed it. Turn up the volume on this version and enjoy. Just plain pure music!
