f2

Hi,
I have 2 F2's that I use almost every weekend. They are a very simple turn on and go detector, and mostly they work fine. I use mine in school yards and play grounds. I have found depth in disc mode to be at about 6" on a dime and 8" on a quarter. The target ID is right on if it's a coin. It loves to find shredded pop cans as aluminum sounds off like a dime and reads within 2 numbers of a dime. So, I dig lots of aluminum. I live in Oklahoma where we have red clay. It does not like this very much. There are 5 bars for sensitivity, I can only get it up to 3 until the machine becomes unstable. I usualy hunt with 2 bars of sens. I don't use the notch feature, so I can't comment on that. It's really light and easy to swing all day. Battery life is about 20 hours on alkaline. I haven't tried Nimh yet, but I will soon, so I can't comment yet on that. I also found that if the coil is wet and gets grass clippings on it it will false like crazy. Also, if you bump the coil on something hard (rock, fencepost) it will register a quarter. This happens on both machines... I can't explain that one yet. The 4 tones it has are great and the depth readings in all metal/pin point mode are right on as well. Overall, I like it. It has some flaws, but it's great for the girlfriend to use and fun to grab and go. The numerical readouts are the saving grace for this detector. I love them. I'm getting ready to get an F4 so I can have ground balance. I feel this is necessary in my area. Hope this helps.
