Found this a LONG time ago in a playground under a swing set (public park) I had just stopped to look for coins when this popped out..
Beautiful design, but obviously NOT a button, and much older than the park where it was found..
Any help is great !

One would think after years on this forum. Folks would actually state a size.
So we need to measure the 🖕add a little more. Then figure out if the fingers are of the sausage variety or regular size.
Though the details of the item is pretty good.
Patina is good.
The hole is not newly drilled.
Would it have been a 2 piece domed button at one time.
A small ringer from a bell contraption.
Wonder if the OP will actually measure it.
But the question begs how big and hiw old was the swing set?

I think it's the front of a two-piece button that was "repaired" in the field for continued use as a button.

I searched for a match but didn't find an exact. The style of the droop wing eagle with shield is similar to the Alabama Volunteer Corps eagle (obviously NOT an AVC without the initials...).
