I had an awesome day yesterday at a small military base in NY that was around during the civil war. I have detected here before and found a few indian head cents, a CW button from a union soldier and a bunch of minnie balls and musket balls. There is a baseball field that does double duty as a Par 3 golf course. I found the SLQ pictured last week which made me decide to hit this area hard yesterday. I pulled up a 1952 silver quarter first. The next hole yielded three mercury dimes and two wheat cents. The barber came next and i needed to change my drawers when upon digging a quarter signal i pulled out a huge silver disc. It's my first walker liberty half dollar and i couldnt help but stare at it for minutes like an entranced child. What an awesome day. 5 silver, 6 wheaties, and a few bucks in clad. I've got to hit this spot again as its huge and i seriously doubt i've hunted it out.

Sounds like you had a great time and you found some real nice silver too! I would be hitting that spot every chance I got.

WOW!!!! All that silver - that's awesome!!!

I don't get out detecting too often, but when I do, I never find silver - seems like I've had a silver drought for WAAAAAY too long :icon_scratch:

I'm setting a personal goal that by the end of this coming weekend, either I or my son Kenny will find a silver coin! We are also going to do a bit of water detecting this week, so maybe our silver (or gold) will be in ring form rather than coin form, but I definitely want one of us to find a silver coin!!!!! :o
