Hello Detector Friends !!

I?m not quite sure where to post this topic, so I try it here :)

I live in Denmark, and my family and I are going to California this summer.
I have thought of buying a metal detector in the US and take it with me home to Denmark.

Does this create any kind of trouble ??
Can I export a detector from US to Europe, without too much paper work and bureaucracy ??

Pleace tell me what you know !!!
I thank you already now :) :) :)

Hello again !!

Do you know of any kind of duties on such things ??

Why by any means should they want to take it ??

Would it be possible

Take the Detector out the Box, Put it together,

Carry it on & off the plane and tell customs it's yours
and you brought it to the U.S.
and are now bringing it home.
Mail the Empty Box home.

or even Take it out the box.
Scuff the box up so it looks well used,
Re Pack the Detector & tell Customs,
When you Travel you take "YOUR" Detector with.

Just Don't tell them you Bought it While Here ;)

I think, I got the message !! ;D
This all sounds a bit uncertain, I?ll better not buy that detector then :-\ :-\ :-\

Say, are americans not interested in tourists buying things in your country.........???

dude buy one!its a matter of not getting screwed by the powers that be that run the show if you know the right answers to the questions you RUN the show understand......

I Agree.

If it's Cheeper to Buy here, then by all means, Buy here.

All right boys !!! ;D

Thank you, I had just hoped it would be somewhat easier !!!

With friendly regards

Agersea, the only problem you MAY have is when you arrive home if your government declares a tax for importing the detector. They are not illegal to have. I have flown with them in a suitcase to Central America many times. My suitcases have been put thru the scanner many times and never were opened. I can't see any problem you could have except paying a few bucks duty.

Just to set you straight, it is YOUR country that will be charging you duties or a tariff on imported goods, not ours. You would only be liable for such charges from the USA if you bring it into our country from abroad. Monty

Hello jondar and Monty ;D

I know very well that my country might charge me, they probably will ;D

From what you tell, it might not be as difficult after all !!!

Do you know if there is a place in the internet, where I can see, who sells Tesoro detectors in California, LA area ???

Just do a search for Tesoro metal detectors and they should have a list of dealers on their homepage. Monty

Thank you !!!!!

8)You should call your airline when you are ready to go back home;and ask about putting it in as checked baggage....being that it is electronic;they may not let it on board;even in the baggage compartment....It might be a good idea just to go ahead and mail it home-might cost some bucks;but it may be saving you a lot of hassles... 8)

Hmmmm, I seem to continue getting two different kinds of advise here ? ? ? ?

;D I?m confused, but on a higher level !!! ;D

the thing is agersea,
if you mail it, there is also the possibility of paying Duties to
your country. You would have to be VERY CAREFULL, what you
put on the CUSTOMS DECLERATION, you will have to fill out
to mail it.
You would need to Put "gift" or "no Value" & the "FROM" name
and address,
would most likely have to be different then the "To".
