Every Adult Male Over The Age Of 18 Required To Possess a gun

I see a few inevitable outcomes of this scenario... 1) people would be much more polite to one another 2) there would be FAR fewer robberies and burglaries, and 3) Many, many people would die.

So.... What is the difference between the English language compared to the "American Language"? Although the 2ND is a topic that mostly regards US citizens this forum is an international one with members from around the world. Why would you put poor Dano on your ignore list? Nobody should ignore anything when it comes to their 2ND Amendment rights and freedoms.
As much as I disagree with some on this forum especially Dano, I would never put someone on ignore......best to understand how the opposition thinks.

Outcomes 1 and 2 would become reality
Outcome 3 not at all.

Was this topic brought up because of a town in Maine? Which was for every home was required to have a gun. It wasn't passed of course. Shouldn't force others to do something they don't want to do. Lol.

Exactly the point, if it infringes on someone's rights to be forced to be armed , it infringes even more to try to say they can't be armed, especially when it is a right written into our Constitution.

What town was that ?

Byron, Maine and Durham, Maine both had a vote on this. They both shot them down.

Very good observation.

Now, to the anti gun bunch: turn this around and think long and hard about it . . . but be careful. Common sense may creep up on you and allow you to see how wrong the gun grabbers are.

Now, complete this sentence:

If no one should be FORCED to H A V E a gun, then neither should anyone be FORCED to ____________ the guns they arlready have.

Remember too, it is not written in the United States Constitution that you have the right not to be forced to bear arms, but what is written in the Constitution is that "the right to keep and bear arms shall NOT BE INFRINGED".

So the KEY word is "INFRINGED"...

What if our government passed a law stating every adult male over the age of 18 was legally required to possess and carry a gun, would members carry, object to or refuse and why......We are talking about a law stating that if you do not carry a weapon at all times your are breaking the law and subject to arrest....

I don't see that as an infringement. I would not have a problem with carrying, either. It's interesting that some would not carry if they were told to do it, but carry as soon as they weren't "forced". We could be required to carry an ID, or even wear green socks. I wouldn't like that, though, but I don't like everything I'm required to do now.

I do think that without training, it would be highly irresponsible, and I hope others would agree. Otherwise it would be like wanting to shoot at my gun club but not wanting to follow safety rules. It's an obvious statement, but the human brain does NOT come hardwired to make the kind of judgements that carrying and using deadly weapons requires. That's why police and soldiers go through lots of training.

I support the Second Amendment, as I do the entire Constitution. I even take an oath to uphold it, and I am enthusiastic about that.

I don't mean to argue here but you said we could be required to carry ID or wear green socks. Dictating what we wear is not constitutional. They would be afterme all the time as I always wear flip flops in the summer. LOL!! I hate wearing socks...

Hey, you're not the barefoot hippie survivalist, are you? :unhappysmiley:

Both of those may or not be constitutional, but they may be (temporary) laws. Of course, I was just using them for an illustration. By the way, I hate sandals, and I always wear decent footwear (hence my mentioning the barefoot hippie, who I think is beyond ridiculous). Just a quirk.

Beware the Irish footwear police, diesel. They're coming for ya, Guinness in hand!

Green socks, red nose ............

I think it could get bad, a bunch of 18 year olds forced to carry guns might not really know how to use them and then decide TO use them...I think it should be a choice but only of you go through training....

I believe I would carry as I have no problem at all doing so. On the other hand, if it was a law to restrict me from protecting myself, I'm afraid I would be a law breaker. If they don't have room in the jails now for the real scum of this society, how will they find room for all of us??
