I believe in the right to own a gun if you wish and I believe you have a right not to. point, period

Kennesaw GA has a "firearm required in every home" ordinance.

It is interesting to see the stats for that one. It is an anti second amendment person's nightmare or "Oh I didn't know about that" topic.

If and buts were candy and nutz we all would have a merry christmas

But, the question is the law has been passed, it is the law, would you carry? If so why, if not why not, would it violate our rights if we were force to posses and carry a weapon....

would it violate our rights if we were force to posses and carry a weapon....

Forced to?
Yes.
But the very nature of the second amendment to the constitution of the United States is choice.
The OPTION of that, should it become necessary.

It is about using technology to defend your other rights as granted to you under that same document.

The funny I keep seeing is that the very same people who agree that the government shouldn't be allowed to ban the consumption of an illegal plant staunchly oppose the defense of the right to bear arms of their countrymen.
It's funny, we have been so selective in our brainwashing that we are now saying "this object is bad but this one is not" based solely on social ideology and avoiding the painful fact that people are the ones who use these objects.

I just hope they all know how to use them!

What if, like Switzerland, our government passed a law stating every adult male over the age of 18 was legally required to possess and carry a gun, would members carry, object to or refuse and why......We are talking about a law stating that if you do not carry a weapon at all times your are breaking the law and subject to arrest....

But....Your fantasy law ISN'T "like Switzerland", is it? Swiss law states every able bodied male 18-35 is required by law to do National Service, and to keep their weapon in their home unless moving to and from mandatory training facilities.
They also can't keep ammo at home for them. All of which has been pointed out to you before. They may have a lot of guns but they're nowhere near as "gun crazy" as you lot!

Dano, I said "our government passed a law stating every adult male over the age of 18 was legally required to possess and carry a gun, would members carry, object to or refuse and why......We are talking about a law stating that if you do not carry a weapon at all times your are breaking the law and subject to arrest...?

If the Switzerland part bothers you so much then ignore it, the question remains the same............

Your question is fine, just the "What if, like Switzerland...." bit is misleading. That's all.

Just like a liberal to be telling me what I have to do. Our founding fathers died so that I could have the god given constitutional right not to carry a gun. And if this liberal dream of your comes true many of us will be willing to die not only for our right but for the right of our children and grandchildren. Your liberal government thugs can push that gun in to my cold dead hands.

Now if swords were required that would be an entirely different proposition.

I would only carry when I felt the need. I don't care what the govt law states. Same as I will do if they outlaw guns.....

Trick question? Or under a scenario of thorough background, competency and practical testing applications in regard to proper handling of said firearm?

Sounds sexist to me :icon_scratch: It should be every person over the age of 18 must carry.

Now with that in mind, I'll bet dollars to donuts reports of random shootings will skyrocket :laughing7:

Funny, but there is not one person on this site that wants to remove guns from anyone hands. Then again, after reading some of these threads, many shouldn't be in possession of a gun, or anything sharper than a crayon :laughing7:

Wouldn't care for a law mandating I carry . . . would be too much like What's his name's health care debacle (oh yeah, when the doo doo hits the fan, they'll all want a piece of him to kick around).

Choice. Personally I don't own a firearm right now. I have in the past, and am looking to purchase one in the next couple of weeks, but don't own one at present because I haven't felt the need to in some time.

Sold my last firearm because it would have made it too easy to solve the problems I was having at that time. If it came to that point, I wanted it to be up close and personal . . . so I could feel the life draining out of him. But the problem is no longer there but a bigger one seems to be around the corner --- former city marshall / sheriff's deputy --- and I would like to keep some distance between us.

Raised around guns. Taught to respect them from a very young age. Learned to shoot from my grandfather . . . he used his guns to stay alive when he hunted bounty in the 20's in Oklahoma and Texas. Two beautiful Colt revolvers. One was named Jesse, the other was named James.

That old man was fast. A Jefferson Parish Sheriff's deputy challenged him to a quick draw contest. He had a snub nosed 38 that he carried after he retired. He dropped the gun into his pants pocket and told the deputy to draw when ready. Grandpa drew from his pocket and fired two blanks at him before the deputy's gun had cleared the holster.

Okay, every male over 18 with no criminal record and no history of mental illness, question is "would members carry, object to or refuse and why"......We are talking about a law stating that if you do not carry a weapon at all times your are breaking the law and subject to arrest, would not matter if you believe in guns or not, the law stated all adult males must carry.....

I believe that it would probably be up to each "individuals" moralities, code of personal ethics and beliefs.

LOL, the scenario is the government has passed a law making it mandatory that all adult men over the age of 18 that have no police record, and no history of mental illness are required to carry a weapon under penalty of law...Who would comply who would refuse and for what reason...........?

I think most would probably carry just to avoid confrontation, not as a blind following of the "said" law. I can't see it even being an ideal scenario in today's society, unless the drug, alcohol and religious fanaticism factors were completely eliminated from the equation at hand.

Okay fair enough answer......
