Ethnic face

I found this buried about a metre down the side of some old steps I demolished. It has been there at least 30 years and is in very good condition. It is some type of ceramic and 1 1/2 inches wide by 1 inch high. It has holes in the ears and makes me wonder whether there could have been earrings in the holes or it was sewn onto something. I am very curious about it so if anyone can solve this mystery I would be greatly appreciative.

Hey thank you Tamrock - that is certainly what it looks like. I had a look at Google images for Sambo and I am now thinking it may be the face off a rag doll.
