Era of this button? It's the decider on going back.

I have access to a private site that has been in use since near colonial times. Unfortunately in the 1910's those ruins were bulldozed and the entire area landscaped and terraced when a mansion was built. . . "mansion" as in 13 bathrooms.

Well I got access, and I was skunked! Less than $2 in clad and about 1 pound of copper pipe and roof flashing. That was an entire weekend finds.

If this button is old, I'll go sweep the woods where I found it. - the acres of overgrown lawn are giving up squat, diddly squat.

I can't read the backmark but that type coin button seems to be around the mid 1800s. That could be soldier lost or civilian lost. Still seems like it might be worth another look.

Daroofa's found the perfect link. Early to mid 1800's. Solved.
It rang up just like a dime, and was only about 3" down. I guess I'm going back for another look.
