Equinox models 600/800 full instruction manual

With my 15% KellyCo military discount they're saying I can have all these features in the Equinox 600 for a cool $550?! Almost sounds too good to be true, but just like a hot girl you meet at the bar, beer goggles be damned, i'm going to take that chance and bring her home!

About 6 weeks ago I hadn't even heard of the Equinox but when I read about it and the feedback they were getting I decided I don't need one but I am going to buy one so I pre ordered because I want one.

Normsel, I think you summed up all of our buying motives. Good job.

This has been one great thread, with some really great post. I was hell-bent on buying the EQ 800, but I have to be honest in that after reading vferrari's two post, #'s 31 & 38, they caused me to pause a moment, and reevaluate both myself and my hunting style and what I look for. With the difference between the two, I must admit that the 600 would be just dandy for me. There are features on the 800 I'm sure I would never use, and after learning that the 600's Multi will also operate in 5 Freq's, it will be all I could need and want. I have detectors now that have features I've never used, and I realize that the 800 has more to it, but if I wanted it all, I would of long ago bought the Deus and/or the CXT 3030. But those machines are only as good as the operator, meaning that to FULLY utilize either one to it's FULL potential, you need the interest, stubbornness and "grey matter" to do so, which any more, I somewhat lack in, and I'm OK with that. I think the 600 for me, would cause the battery removal from the X-Terra 70 and AT Pro. I may have been detecting for 30 years, but I always learn a lot on this Forum. Example again is vferrari's post here, not only really informative, but for me, somewhat thought provoking, and I appreciate that. I DO look forward to the comments from the members after they receive them. (Although I can't say the 800 is a dead deal for me, Normsel kind of summed it up)................We will see.

I was #2 on my dealers list and he is only getting one so I am out canceled for now waiting on videos from others and will read the post on here :)

I skimmed the manual quick and if I read it right most modes require/default manual ground balance instead of just auto tracking like the CTX?
If so that is different from minelab.

As I stated before, I really don't need another detector. In six months, if I see the 800 literally smoking the competition, which I really don't think is going to happen, multi frequency may not be the cat's meow in some of the nail infestations I dig, but, anyway, I will see what it looks like in six months. There will be used ones by then, probably not a lot, but since the hype has this machine walking on water, there will be some used ones available, and I will want to test drive it first. I also have been hunting forever, and I like to test drive a machine before I buy one. I have bought, then tested machines, and those machines got resold on Ebay. I know all about those mistakes. I don't really feel like making another. And this applies to all machines and all manufacturers, not just this one. A dealer friend tried selling me the Deus for a year. Finally, I was able to see it in action and bought it on the spot. I never believed the hype on it.

That's the same situation I'm in too. The extra $250.00 really wouldn't keep my mortgage from being paid but like you're saying, features are great but why buy them if they aren't going to be used? Just to say you got the mac daddy model? Not capping on people but some people are that way and to each their own!

Vferrari did bring some fine print features to my attention though that for me.....and this is subjective...makes the 800 very apealing. I think people look straight to the obvious (wireless audio+gold) features and not the smaller but VERY important ones! Again, important for me. For the next guy these might not amount to anything substantial at all.

Smokey a lot of people won't take time to learn a detector before they sell them. They think the darn things will sing like a piano as soon as they turn it on and when it don't they think it's trash. I am getting one because it's new and I have never bought a detector that interested me before it hit the market. It's as simple as I said before I want one and I bought one. I am detector poor at this point but it's fun.. I did sell my AT Pro and V3i so I am down to 3 right now...LOL Unlike you Smokey I buy after research and take the time to learn it. I also don't think it will smoke the competition but will entice some of they guys using lower end detectors to upgrade and have an easy detector to plug and play

I sure wish they made an 8" coil for it!! I don't really like 11" coils for coin hunting and 6" is too small for my likes. To me 8" is the perfect coin hunting coil and I use them on all my machines except my excal and do well even on colonial sites. Maybe I'd get one if an 8' coil becomes available, aftermarket or factory.

I got pre approved for financing on one in just not sure I really want one. I may wait to see what everyone else’s views on them are once they get some time on them

I cant tell if you are joking or not. If not, I don't recommend buying anything on credit you dont need to survive. this is a hobby and should never put a person into debt for any aspect.

Yeah I was joking but seriously no I would really like to see some reviews before buying. Last time I went on a whim and bought something that no one had had hands on experience with it didn’t end well for me or the rest of the people who used it

Well, just sit back and get really, really comfortable because it looks like we are all going to be waiting a while before we see them.

Lol. We are tired of looking at that page for the past few weeks without prices or availability information forthcoming from Minelab. One of the things that has folks a little torqued. For example, how much are people going to have to shell out for the WP cans so the thing can be actually used in the water (yeah it has a special 1/8" waterproof connector plug). Who knows? Coil prices? Don't even go there.

Thanks for posting it though, anyway. At least you can see what you can't have so you can feel right at home not having the Equinox. LOL.

Yes, I had seen this which is why I said I'd sure like to see an 8" coil available before I bought an Equinox. I just e-mailed Minelab customer service and told them that an 8" coil would be a great addition to the Equinox. If there are others here who feel the same perhaps if they e-mailed Minelab also who knows, maybe they'll listen.

If the Equinox turns out to be the machine we all hope to own, the aftermarket coil companies will jump on making coils for them. They would probably be more receptive to your coil suggestions than Minelab.
