Saying I had an epic weekend would be an understatement! I loaded the latest Equinox firmware update to try the new FE2/0 iron program, and it did not disappoint!

I've posted about trip reports from this site several times over the years. It's always been a fun site IMO, you just never know what you'll dig, and it dates back to the early 1800's with history into the 20th century. It saw it's share of the Spanish, Mexicans, Emigrants, and Americans. It's getting difficult, lots of flat iron still left, but good finds have been thinning out, easy finds have been gone for years. TomCA won't even hunt there any more.

This trip turned out to be absolutely EPIC! Unbelievable really, because there have been trips where neither Tom nor I have dug a single coin at this site, so to dig five period coins in one trip was astounding.

Now if these were just five common 1800's coins, I would've left there an extremely happy camper, but two out of the five turned out to be astounding finds!

An 1865-S Seated Liberty Dime AND a 1856-S INDIAN PRINCESS $1 GOLD PIECE!!! I am absolutely over the moon from this hunt!

I got all the coins on video, if you have a chance, take a look:

You've got my banner vote. Both of those coins had a very low mintage. The Gold 1Dollar was only about 27500 Minted. Amazing~!

Thanks, I had no idea the 1865-S Seated Liberty dime was a good one when I dug it, was a nice surprise when I checked PCGS and the $1 gold dollar, I about fell over when I pulled it up on PCGS.

Super hunt, just voted for banner, most excellent finds!!

Holy smokes! Congrats! A lot of gold coins coming out of Cali lately. Banner vote!

Thank you! My friend TomCA has a theory that the majority of gold coins dug by detecting came from CA due to the influx of people during the gold rush and it's ensuing expansion that resulted from the gold rush. Don't know if that's true, but it's certainly possible.

:occasion14:You west coast guys get all the gold coins and key dates on your early sites. Gotta love a site that continues to produce for many years too

Beautiful coins. They musta shunned copper out there in the gold fields :laughing7:

Killer old coin shooting and FANTASTIC Gold coin! :notworthy:

Banner Vote in! :occasion14:

Awesome hunt with incredible rare coins! Did you swing over the same areas you had before, but the F2 program helped filter out the iron? Or just gave a cleaner more easily recognizable signal? I have the new software, just haven’t tried F2 yet. Congrats!!!

Yeah but you east coasters have largies and busts jumping out of every kiddie lot and park in town, so I guess it's a trade off :) Thanks for looking

Thanks! Not sure if they shunned it, at this same site I found two copper fractional reales from the early 1800's, just a different mix of coins then the east coast I suppose.
