Hello Forum,

I found this, and it has me wondering what it might be from. Maybe an engine part? It has the #117A on it, and it’s brass. Thanks for looking!

Looks like a crankshaft main bearing or or the lower piston rod cap

Here are some more pictures after I cleaned it up. I’m wondering if this is from a Model T Ford.

its a bearing cap from something old. The 7 is an old style font.

Okay, agreed it’s starting to look like a main bearing cap. I agree it’s old, and good catch on the font style Bigcypresshunter. I’d love to know what it’s from. If anyone can find a picture like this and identify the age, and make / model. Thanks again everyone

I would say not a bearing cap, where the insert would go is much too narrow. More like it would maybe hold a seal. I have never seen a bearing cap made out of brass. And with the stem on it, maybe more like a shift fork.

Great observations mick56. Often times parts like this made from brass were used for water pumps. Do you think it could have been from a pump?

The only thing I can add is that it was found at an old homestead. Car, truck, tractor, or pump? I may never know. Thanks agin everyone for looking.

Yes, half of a 2 piece clutch throw out, one of those over center types.

Okay I found this on Ebay. I’m not sure if mine is a case brand or not though.
