Stan your link dosn't work and doing an Ebay search for a seller with the username "divewrecks" turns up a guy who has a feedback rating of 9, burned a couple of people back in 07, and hasn't been heard from since. You might want to fix your link.. :icon_thumleft:

cut and paste the whole link put in the address bar
worked for me

Have I gotten screwed here?

I think you did good price wise on the X69X 1/2 reale. Good to see some of the date, the cross, and have a Fisher cert, whether original to that coin or not. Obviously someone drew the coin outline on the cert, but it is just as common to find a blank cert. I remember someone selling about 15 blank 1715 Fisher certs on Ebay once. I think they went for over $100.

I'll say that the 8 reale coin is less typical in shape than most 1715 fleet coins, which tend to be less round with edges sheared off at different angles and also signs of hammering, either in faceting edges or in knocking down points on the periphery. I highly recommend Alan Craig's book "Spanish Colonial Coins in the Florida Collection". If you look at all the examples of the 1715 Fleet Mexican coins you will the characteristics I am talking about. If you can get some bigger pictures that would be nice. How a coin dealer can sell with postage stamp sized coins is beyond me. I'll be glad to research it further. Remember, that you can always retract your bid if you like if you have a good reason (like, your pictures suck!).

I got a Mexican eight on Ebay now for half that if you gotta have one. ;D

.....or, I will help you find a good one representative of the 1715 Fleet.
