Listed a CUTCO knife on ebay last night.

An hour later, someone had hit "but it now" and then paid for it via Paypal. All legit, done through proper channels.

I checked the buyer out today and the person apparently registered for an ebay account on the same day and then used that ebay "quick checkout" feature to buy my knife. They have no feedback nor have they ever left feedback previously.

The skeptik in me says "red flag". Not sure what to do here...

If they bought the knife and paid for it, ship it. Everyone has to start somewhere. You had an auction that was appealing to them so they purchased from you. Remember that it's Christmas time and people are shopping for presents. No need to be concerned.

He is right, I have actually sold Items to someone that started the account, just to buy the item..its close to christmas, so you should be fine..Plus Ebay is so much better on security then they used to be

As long as they've paid, send it. Make sure you send it with delivery confirmation. I would also consider putting an ultraviolet mark on it to make sure if it returns, it is YOUR knife that is returned.

Just happened to me three weeks ago. I had a dreidel music box and lady bought it with zero feedback just for hannukah. No problems.

Good replies all. Go ahead and ship it, in fact you leave yourself open to negative feedback if you don't.

I don't know about that! (wink) I asked the lady I sold the music box to for feedback and she had no idea what I was talking about.

I did sell a great laser golf distance finder. The 0 feedback buyer never paid, never responded to my emails, and has the item tied up until after Christmas...

You should NEVER ask a buyer for feedback... It is totally voluntary... No feedback is good feedback... Be careful what you wish for

Oh well, you win some, you lose some... You can't get hung up on that, let it change your mind about selling on eBay or let it frustrate you... Just move on... There are more good buyers than there are bad ones

like others have said just make sure you ship with delivery confirmation. If paid thru paypal, see if they have a confirmed PP mailing address (means PP address and CC address match). When listing an item, you can also set preferences so that no one with a 0 feedback, etc. can bid on your items. You can also set preferences so that international bidders can not bid on your items. If dollar amount is over $250, you are required by PP to ship with signature confirmation to be eligible for protection.

Blocking out 0 feedback bidders is not only stupid but as far as I know, nit even an option... Some of you people should just walk away from the eBay experience because you just don't get it.

I always send a little note with any item that says if they have any questions or concerns to please contact us then I say "please leave us good feedback and we will also" so far 243 good feedbacks 100% 2 neutrals 0 negs... knock on wood :)

Thanks for the info... This is something I have been preaching on here for some time now.

I would agree, I wouldn't recommend blocking 0 feedback buyers either, blocking bidders with multiple recent policy violations or bidders from other countries if you do not wish to ship internationally could definitely be useful however. Just checked and blocking 0 feedback bidders is not possible (I feel like it was at one time?), blocking bidders with negative feedback is however. Just go to "buyer requirements" when you are listing an item and check out the different options.

I had something like this happen to me. The guy bought 2 items, 0 feedback, brand new account. I sent about 5 emails, said if anything was up to let me know, no response, no attempt to get back at me, no nothing. Waited 10 days, filed 2 cases with eBay, closed them after 4 days, blocked the guy from any other auction I have.

I have sold several things to other new people on there, no problems.

i never wait for feedback from the buyer to leave feedback....after they pay they get the positive feedback...they lived up to their part of the bargain...ive got over 800 auctions with 100% feedback...

Thanks for the advice and everything... but why contradict yourself just to offer generic advice on how to use ebay?

Then your doing something wrong. There is no reason for that item to be "tied up" until after Christmas. For future reference- Bidders have 4 days to pay (in my world), after that you can open a case against them and re-list the item after another 4 days. This can be automatically in your site preferences and requires no effort from you.
Here-
Using Unpaid Item Assistant

Personally, I put a disclaimer on my listings stating that any item not paid for after 4 days from the auction's end, with no communication from the buyer, will be relisted automatically.

I do the exact same thing.
