We only had a short 3.5 hour detecting window but it was enough to finish gridding this site. As we have now found a number of Roman clues, this site may now span from circa AD200-AD1000! So I can't call it an early Saxon site anymore, as it may start in the late Roman through the early, middle & late Saxon periods.

Great brooch Cru! What catches my eye though is that Roman unit with the perfect hole in it. Do you think that was drilled at a later date and lost? The hole has a steady bore through it and no spread so I'd argue it was done with a bit (albeit an old one)
Most of these drilled holes are done in the Saxon period, for Jewelry. However, there are some that argue it happened in the Roman period as well. Most of the evidence we have found, points towards the Saxons.
