Ive walked fields for years looking for arrowheads and would occasionally find an old button or bullet. They sat in an old mason jar on my desk until revently when i got turned on to metal detecting. I have since emptied out the old jar.... partly to learn a thing or two about what i found but also to refresh my memory about sites i might want to revisit with a metal detector.
One of the items that i cant seem to nail down is what appears to be an old Marine Corps button. I have been unsuccessful in dating my button because it lacks the typical backmarks i have seen with similar buttons online.
The button is pretty crusty, dating may not even be possible unless the lack of backmarks is a giveaway. Sorry for the picture quality
