Sounds like one of those hunts, 1st dig is the best dig and then really nothing. :dontknow:
It's happened before, and I have thought I might as well go home now-never do-but should have just accepted it as the 1st-last keeper of the hunt.
 

Literally my first signal and hole of the day this morning. The eagle breast plate was about 10” deep. I only dug one .69 caliber after that, but no complaints, this area needs more attention and I’ll get back here in a day or so.

fence lines are often productive , many relic hunters walk away when they get that long wire signal
Yes, this fence line runs through an area where relics were found in fields on either side of it. Tons of iron and wire readings, but I use an XP Deus and it’s pretty good in trashy areas.
