Dug my first box plate yesterday

I think the key for me is going slow,especially in places I have hunted before. I dug this in a yard we have been to numerous times and decided to go all metal and when I got a signal, even if blippy to then switch to setting 3 on my Minelab 505 to then get a clearer reading. I also dug within a few feet my first full harmonica reed and a little plated button.

I dug my first plate yesterday too! It was much larger, had a bunch of numbers and letters on it, and had Virginia 1958 on it Want to trade? Great find, and congrats!

Thanks for all the kind comments. I see these plates at Civil War shows all the time but when you find one of your own it makes it all the more special. It also makes you think when you see th different types of attachment hooks about how ingenious soldiers were as they sometimes had to interchange box plates into belt buckles and vice versa.
