I think the key for me is going slow, especially in places I have hunted before. I dug this in a yard we have been to numerous times and decided to go all metal and when I got a signal, even if blippy to then switch to setting 3 on my Minelab 505 to then get a clearer reading. I also dug within a few feet my first full harmonica reed and a little plated button.

Thanks Darby and even though brass is not magnetic, I'm a plate magnet apparently. I wish you would find one, it's very exciting to unearth one but I was just as excited about the reed and the little button. My husband found smithing that he thinks could be a rosette so he is busy researching that.

Great job! I have been fortunate to dig two buckles. One US and one CS but I have yet to get a box plate. Looks like you had a great day. Congrats!

Another nice plate for the collection. Doesn't have anything on those Confederate plates, but not a whole lot out there does ;) WtG Coily.

Must be something in the air. I dug my 2nd harmonica reeds yesterday.

Congrats, your building a collection.

Man, nice going! Plates of any kind are few and far between these days IMO. Won't be all that long before ANY plate is a banner find. In my neck of the woods, they pretty much are right NOW. Nice to be you . . . !

Great box plate with lead intact! That's on many a bucket list and congrats
