Drinking n Driving is so much Fun.

HI Folks; Sorry but I don't go out on New Years Eve. I hate drunk drivers with a PASSION.!!! My gal, Debra Getchell was killed in 1998 by a drunk driver. My kid was 2 years old at the time. I've raised her by myself all these years.
I catch you, you will not have to worry about the cops. I promise. !!! You had better pray they get there quickly. I'm going to stop at that ok. My blood is boiling ok.
HAPPY SOBER NEW YEARS EVERYONE. !!! PEACE:RONB :coffee2:

I hear ya Barker - My 39 year old neighbor Shannon Kruse was 8 months pregnant when she was killed by a drunk driver. The guy only got 12 months. Talk about no justice. All the people that were affected by this senseless tragedy are too many to count, including my kids who were playmates with her 3 other small children. :angry4:

There is zero chance of my car getting wrecked and my life being ruined by going to bed around 9, or 10 at the latest.

DAVE,

NEVER SAY ZERO! New Year's Eve 2010-11. I was on my old Honda VTR1000 on my way home from work, at about 6:30 PM. A drunk in a little pickup caused me to play Superman for about 80 feet and spend the first three months of 2011 in bed with:

1. Compound Fracture of my right ankle
2. Four (count'em four) broken ribs
3. Collapsed right lung
4. Broken right collar bone

All that and you'd think I was in shorts and a TShirt. I had on $500 Alpinestar Boots, Armored Leather Jacket, Armored Gloves, and a $1000 full face helmet.

The drunk took off (never found), and I had about $40,000 in hospital bills. Lucky thing was that I had a friend at the Hospital that was in charge of who they have Government Money pay for. Since I was a Veteran of both US Navy and US Army, I got to the top of the list.

...................... and the bike was totaled as well!

Thank you for your service!

New Years Day, 1982, we were sitting at a red light. It was about 10 p.m.. I saw headlights in my rear view mirror; just a normal glance to see what was behind me. The vehicle was a long way behind me. I looked back at the light, then, 'BAM'. A 3/4 ton Dodge pickup hit us from behind. Luckily we weren't seriously injured or killed. My oldest daughter happened to look back just as the truck struck us and twisted her back. She stayed in bed for just over a day and recovered ok. After the truck hit us, it bounced off and hit a telephone pole, backed up, and drove away. A couple of boys in a pickup across the street drove over to us and asked if we were ok. When I told them we were ok, they pursued the truck. A cop that I had gone to school with investigated the accident. He was informed on his radio that the 'suspect' had been taken into custody. The two boys that chased the truck, told us that the truck pulled into a hotel parking lot about 3 blocks away and the driver staggered into the hotel. The hotel desk clerk was told by the driver that he 'thought' he had been involved in an accident, but wasn't sure. The clerk called the cops. Cops had to hold the man up to keep him from falling when he was taken before a judge a few minutes later.
Insurance wouldn't pay because the truck had been 'taken without the owner's permission'. The guy driving it was a farm hand who slipped into the house of his employer, took the keys, and drove the truck away. Supposedly he was drunk before he took the truck and continued to drink.
The rear of the car was crushed so badly that the frame was bent around the rear axle on one side. The back of my seat was bent several inches from the force of the impact. It was like a reclining seat! We were sitting still, I had my foot on the brake. The impact knocked us across 3 lanes of a 6 lane street, through the intersection, and into the nearest of the lanes going in the opposite direction.
I really don't know how we even lived through that accident. Had to be 'someone' watching over us. I talked to the cop/school buddy a few days after the wreck. He said the drunk was released less than 48 hours after the accident. My insurance company said they didn't think it was feasible to pursue trying to sue the man or the vehicle owner. They paid for the totaled car. No one will ever know if the farmer allowed the guy take the truck or if the guy actually took the keys with out permission.
