Possible Key Date Draped Bust LC and an Eagle cuff Button

Hunted a couple of foundations that we've hunted in the past with my buddy FatTony315 today. Tried to slow my hunting way down and listen for some signals that we may have left behind or imperfect, jumpy type signals that we may have chosen not to dig. Started off with one of those jumpy signals that only gave a high chirp maybe one out of every four times I passed the coil over the target. Turned up a target that I thought might have been a button but it was so small I just put in in my pouch and moved on. After cleaning it off at home it turned out to be a nice Navy Eagle cuff 2 piece button. Followed that up with a nice flat button.

Picked up a few odds and ends including a few spoons and a pewter spoon handle. Then I started to venture further away from the foundation and got a slightly imperfect signal that was hitting a a few different numbers on my e-trac. (10-44, 11-45, and a few sweeps of the coil gave iron signal hits 35-45....but there was a nice high tone pretty consistently so I knew it might be something good. At about 6-7 inches deep I saw a copper disc pop out of the side of the hole.

After brushing it off a little I can see that it has a bunch of detail left but it has that flaky kind of look that makes me think it won't do well in peroxide. I think I'm gonna leave it mostly like it is. Maybe just a bit more toothpicking. Looks like an 1804.

Here's a compilation picture of today's finds.

WoW! An genuine 1804 [that's not a restrike] looks to be a key date. Congratulations on a stupendous find, and very rare. The detail looks good even covered with soil. If it looks really good when cleaned up and finishing arguments confirm it's date and rare status... then I am voting banner.
After further looking at the pictures I am of the opinion that this is the Real Deal 1804 Holyfield. I am voting Banner.

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with us

Slowing down and digging it all really paid off. I think both will restore well. Nice hunt. Keep us updated on the coin.

Ya know one of my favorite things to do besides finding the goods myself is reading others posts and seeing their finds. That draped bust is a beauty, hope you can get a date on it

Sweet finds! !!
