Still living at the beach this week. We went back to the site where the large 3-diamond ring was lost and where my brother found the really nice ring the other day.(http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php?action=view;topic=139927.0;)
We had one heck of a storm here this morning with almost 3 inches of rain!!! The tide was going out and the waves were pounding the beach. I was hunting perpendicular to the water, working a search pattern from the dunes to as far as the waves would allow me. I was following a wave out when I got a really good signal. It read 7 inches. I started digging quickly as the next wave was getting ready to come in. Of course I didn't get to my target before the wave came in, chased me up the beach, and filled my hole with water and sand. Three more times to the hole between waves and digging like crazy and I saw a glimmer of what I thought for about a thousandth of second was a gold bar. I quickly grabbed it as the next wave was fast approaching. I took off up to the dry sand, laughing the whole way.
I have found a LOT of stuff but this is one of the most unique ones.

Please feel free to take a guess at what you think it is. I have included a picture of the bottom as well, there aren't any attachment points so I have no idea what it is, other than a door knocker to the Captains Quarters on a Pirate Ship!!!!

Well worth the Banner thats cool

I was thinking bottle opener but i dont see any thing worn on it.

hood ornament is my first guess.
i have an eagle one and its big and heavy.

Hummmm......it does make a nice hood ornament. It doesn't look bad on an F350 Dually but I'm thinking it probably came off of a Cadillac Eldorado !!! ;D

Looks like a boot jack thou it's hard to tell how big it is.Set it on the ground, step on it's facewith one foot, slid your boot heel in the horns and pull your foot out of the boot, repeat in reverse for other foot.

Good guess but I don't thank that's it either. Here's a picture of "it" with a size 13 hunting boot........doesn't quite fit.

Cool find. As a Texan living in the Austin area I can find many uses for this. lol Although it looks like it belongs at the top of a UT banner pole, much like the eagle on a decorative US flag pole.

That thing is a lot bigger seeing it on the hood(which looks really sweet against the black)and up next to the boot, didn't look as large in your hand.

Wonder if it could of been on some type of cane...seems like the recessed part underneath would fit nicely on crook top type canes

its a mystery!!!!

Could it be that it really doesn't do anything but look cool? Like maybe the one in this picture. http://www.horsesaddleshop.com/solbrassteer.html

Snowdragon,
I'm thinking thats it. Probably just some type of decorative item for the coffee table or desk top. But the mystery continues as to why it would have washed up in the surf ??? The area of the beach where I found it doesn't really have any houses, so maybe it came off of a boat that sank ???

Did you ever find out what kind of metal is it? Try weighing it and getting the mass so you can figure out the density, that should help eliminate some of the metals. Of course, if its a not-so-common alloy, you still don't have any idea, but at least you'll have ruled some metals out. Still looks awesome though, congrats on the find. Maybe some kids were screwing around and burying "treasure."

From the pics with the Quarter and hand I thought it was much smaller, lesson learned. Looks to be a decorative do dad .Made in India I'd guess.

cool looking item
