Does this mean anything?

It has been awhile since checking this thread out. Looks like you have made some progress. Just wondering, have you placed a pinpointer with the sensitively maxed inside the possible hidey hole to check if anything could be just under the surface at the bottom. It looked like the floor of the hole was dirt.

I would look for other iron markers. I am sure you are aware but misc. iron objects were placed along the trail, so that the compass or dip needle would read these objects and let you know you were going the correct way. Many times these iron objects pots, horseshoes etc were also inches above the treasure so that you could locate the spot using the compass or dipneedle because if buried deep even in lets say an iron box, the compass/dipneedle or even now a days most detectors would not be able to read it. Just something to think about.

Yes, we did check inside the hole, TNCav.....I have a sniper coil that I use on my Ace 250 and there were no readings anywhere on/in the monument.

Hi txkickergirl--Yes, we are still looking for other iron pointers---found a horseshoe near the F-R rock the other day. The open end pointed us towards the monument, the closed end towards the brush line at the top of the hill.
Rangler made some suggestions with the F-R rock and the direction he gave us was also towards to brush(timber line). We explored a little into that area and found an odd tree. The nose of the tree points back at the F-R rock. Its just a young tree though so I am not sure if its even worth mentioning, as it may just be a flaw of nature :dontknow: . I'll post a picture of it and see what y'all think.
Thanks TNCav and Txkickergirl.

I did a bing search of "belt rings" and got over 73 million hits. The first on the list was this site:

http://www.thefind.com/jewelry/info-belt-buckle-ring

Check it out. Prices from $9 to over $800. Have fun.
Yes, I have been searching online also and saw that there are many different kinds of buckle(belt) rings. It would be nice to know for sure how old this ring is.
Thanks Bill!!

That tree might be older than we think. It sure does not look "natural", though. I've marked it up a little bit for your consideration. The 2 trees look kinda, sorta like a recurved bow drawn back for an arrow launch. That's the read arrow. Maybe the continuing compass line. Check the area directly below the knee spot and the area at the end of the extended line from the inside angle. Both shown with the yellow lines. Just some of the possibilities this tree might present.

sometimes the iron objects have nicks or even symbols on them, the nicks usually tell the distance to the next marker

Sounds like good info TGirl, I might humbly add some have holes in them.

Sandcreek4,

The two trees remind me of two bony knees(legs) walking to the left.

Also, I circled some possible s/s.

Up higher on right leg, I think I see a "13". :dontknow:

You may exactly right...but on the trails I have followed the pointer is followed to the left as pictured....does not hurt to check the direction you indicated as that may be the true course. Sometimes a marker under the pointer,...sometimes not. The next S/S when found.....

I believe Springfield said it best here.

Those bent trees are nothing but trial markers. I recently followed bent trees at Raven Rock park. They pretty much point you down the obvious trial that all ready exist.

Now I see why you would believe that recent rock you found might be treasure related.
