If I could find one ingot for every shotgun shell I have found, I'd have every ingot and be rich, and still have another 500 shotgun shells left over. LOL.

BVI, I just caught up on your thread. It kinda reminds me of when I went fishing for and caught a huge Halibut off the coast of Alaska. I thought I knew what it would be like to catch a fish that size and it turned out it was NOTHING like I thought it would be. All he** broke loose for about an hour, learned as I went, got it in...absolutely memorable. This thread and my own gold prospecting adventures has taught me to play my cards close to my chest. I'm very happy for you and that you got professional help before it was too late...which we all know came very close. Anyhow congrats and thanks for anything you can give us! :occasion14:

Your story has reached legendary status where I'm from, it's even been embellished some and turned into something of an educational story:

"There was once a guy who was metal detecting a beach and suddenly he gets a signal - he digs it up but it turns out to just be a rock. So the guy leaves the rock and continues metal detecting. He doesn't find much that day besides the occasional piece of costume jewelry. Eventually he gets back to where he had started and he detects the rock again. Eventually the man decides to pick up the rock and put it into his bag even though he was quite certain it was worthless.

When he got home that evening he opened his bag to an amazing sight. Amongst all the worthless scraps of metal and fake jewelry he had collected he was shocked to see dozens of 16th century Spanish doubloons glistening within. The worthless rock he had picked up had in fact been a stack of silver coins from a treasure ship that had wrecked in a storm hundreds of years earlier. The treasure had been in the water for so long that coral had formed around it. The coral had encased the treasure for hundreds of years until one day it broke loose from the sea floor and washed up onto the beach. While in the man's bag the coral dried out and disintegrated - spilling the coins.

The moral of the story is: things aren't always what they seem. Something that looks like a worthless rock could be a treasure, and vise-versa something that looks like treasure, like the bits of costume jewelry the man found, may in fact be worthless. So when you go out in the world - just remember this. Don't judge people for what they look like on the outside until you know what they're like on the inside."

Wow, thanks!

Glad my experience is finding new audiences!

I am in NY next week,,maybe I should do a "show and tell" !!!

BVI,

You're very quiet, you off island or something?

Yeah, I'm holed up in a dodgy hotel on the beach.
Nice and quiet except for the weird person who keeps knocking on the door? I'm sure a bottle of whiskey will make him go away......:occasion14:
